Batman Beyond 2.0 #6 (2013) Review

Bad Guys and Gals

Can an issue start with more tension than this?  It appears that Rewire has killed Batman (directly from the last issue) while the Police and Dick Grayson arrive a little too late.  What follows is a lot of explosions, a return of a great Batman Beyond Villain and tons of edge of your seat action.  Kyle Higgins and Tony Silas know what they are doing.

Higgins uses this issue to reveal some truths while opening up some new mysteries.  The root of the Mayor's murder runs deep and even seems to have ties to why the new Arkham facility was built in the first place.  This leads right to the issues big reveal and believe me, it's huge.  It also makes sense and sets up what should be another great issue in two weeks.

As I said, this issue has some great action but because of the circumstances, it doesn't involve Batman. However, Dick fills in just fine.  He may be older, but he can still kick ass.  Another highlight of the series and this issue is Barbara Gordon.  She is tough as nails as the Commissioner, just oozing with confidence and intelligence.

Speaking of confidence, Tony Silas's art is so good.  He nails the Batman Beyond Universe, yet makes it his own at the same time.  The character and set designs are so good.

Bits and Pieces:

Batman Beyond 2.0 continues to be so good.  Higgins and Silas's love of the source material comes through loud and clear.  This issue may lack Batman but it makes up for it with a strong supporting cast, a return of a favorite villain and a huge and exciting reveal. This is a great issue and easy to recommend.

9.0/10
