OPERATION: SAVE THIS BOOK

Last time we looked at the Worlds' Finest duo they were continuing their streak of being awful superheroes, well mostly Huntress.  She was on the hunt for a terrorist she had let get away and even take a hostage, while Power Girl tried to fix the nuclear reactor she had somehow shorted out with her Universe bridge she and a team of scientists created so that the duo could finally go back home to Earth 2.  It wasn't a thrilling issue and the hostage ended up saving the day.  So now it's time to get the Universe bridge in order and to say farewell to our heroes, at least say farewell to them in Earth-Prime.  The two are going home, and with that hopefully saving this title from the cancellation chopping block, because it has just been awful.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Well our story begins continuing the series trend of over sexualizing our heroes by immediately getting Powergirl out of her clothes and taking great pains to show us Huntress sensually eating and licking a muffin.  Now I'm not a prude and I don't mind sexy superheroes, but goddamn is this getting ridiculous.

So it's the duo's last day on Earth-Prime and Huntress plans on making the most out of it before the two go back to what they believe to be their war torn home.  You know simple things like walking around, watching the sunset, and flirting with cute young men.  But the pleasant day comes to an end when Desaad discovers the two's plan on leaving and isn't too hip on the idea of being left behind.  Power Girl and Huntress make their way to the lab when Karen hears one of her scientists scream,(you know super hearing and all) and find  Desaad has gotten to the party early.  It seems that Darkseid's torturer supreme is a bit of a pushover though and the two activate the Universe Bridge and make their way through the portal supposedly leaving Desaad behind for the heroes of Earth-Prime to take care of, but I guess we'll find out next issue if he actually made the trip or not.

In the end the Worlds' Finest make their way back to Earth 2 to find it in shambles and we're left with the hope that these two might finally have a purpose and the means to tell a good story involving them.  That's it for this month, see you for issue #26 as we rediscover Earth 2 through the reminiscing eyes of our two heroes.

Bits and Pieces:

Every month that I read an issue of Worlds' Finest I'm surprised that their doesn't seem to be any meat to the book at all.  It has the strange ability to begin and end without anything really happening in the middle and I hope with the upcoming change to the book that we'll finally have something for these two to show some real superheroics instead of fumbling around and seeming to just simply go through the motions.  Even after all my bitching the book isn't that bad except for the constant over sexualizing of the characters that has run rampant from the titles start.  We have the excellent artwork of Tyler Kirkham and I hope he stays on for awhile because I just love looking at characters through his pencils.  I can't say that I recommend this book, but it is a farewell to the status quo of Worlds' Finest and for that it may be the best issue yet.

6/10
