Justice League of the Multiverse

Infinite Crisis continues to be the most frustrating read for me each week.  It's not because it's bad.  No, then I cold just write it off and move along.  It's because it's so damn inconsistent.  I just never know what to expect.  Well, this week sticks with the team of Mecha Superman, Zatanna, Flash and Cyborg, but unlike last issue, this one is pretty good.

Guess what?  The gang is fighting Arcane Doomsday.  Nothing new here except that they are actually getting somewhere.  If you've been reading, then you know the plan, send Doomsday back to his own Earth.  They work as a team and it's awesome. I've given Dan Abnett grief for his characterizations in this series, but this issue he nails them.  The banter between everyone is great and when Mecha Superman learns trash talk, it's a Terminator 2 moment that kicks ass.

By the end of the issue, the Heroes get a small victory, but are off to fight the real War.  For the moment, though, it's smiles and laughter with Flash being Flash which means he's hilarious.  This is easily my favorite issue of Infinite Crisis yet.  I really hope that Dan Abnett bucks the trend and gives us a few of these in a row.

Tom Derenick's art has been good throughout the series and that continues this week.  I really like his Zatanna and Mecha Superman and everything else in this issue hits the right notes.  If I had any complaints, it's that there is not much in the background department. The action is kept pretty close up, so it's not a major issue, but it'd be nice to see more of the scenery.

Bits and Pieces:

Infinite Crisis #15 is my favorite issue of this series so far.  The team of Mecha Superman, Zatanna, Flash and Cyborg are so much fun and I can only hope that Dan Abnett and Tom Derenick can keep up the momentum in weeks to come.

9.0/10
