The Flash Season 1 Episode 15 "Out of Time" Review

REPEAT
PERFORMANCE

After a weeks of waiting, we finally return to Central City with our Scarlet Speedster. When we last left The Flash, we said farewell to Firestorm as he goes off to try and have a spin-off series and Harrison Wells gives Grodd the man of his torture, General Eiling. We now have a new Weather Wizard to fight, and the truth of Well's to be revealed to Cisco and Caitlin. In the recent Paleyfest trailer, it revealed quite a few crazy things coming down the pipline as the season runs to it's finale. By the looks of it, things are going to get a whole lot more heavy in the coming weeks. This heaviness starts HERE!

Storywise was a nice intro to this darker half of the season. We first get a look at the new Weather Wizard. As an older brother, I could connect with the villain. He wanted vengence for his brother, and you could see when the episode opens he cares. Sure he's a villain, but he is an older brother first, wanting to protect and watch out for his brother. This created an interesting enemy for not the Flash, but Joe West, who killed his brother in the pilot of the series. On the sub-plot side, I was Yay and Nay. The Yay sub-plot revolved around Cisco finally piecing together the truth of Harrison wells. It was interesting the way he was able to piece it all together, followed up by a tense, emotional conclusion. The Nay sub-plot was the love interest sub-plot. I'm happy the tension has begun to build between Eddie, Barry, and Iris, but with all the tense issues that had begun in this episode it seemed entirely unnecessary.

The performances were good on most accounts but the one that I felt truly knocked out of the park was Cisco and Harrison Wells. This episode truly showed how much like family Cisco and Wells are. You can see the pain in both of their eyes when Cisco finds out the truth. Knowing what has to happen, breaks Wells', Cisco's, even my own heart. It made me depressed and I literally called out from my couch begging him not to. I am just thankful that we see him alive and well in the preview for next week.. This however makes me wonder how they are going to cram both the return of the Rogues and deal with this crazy Weather Wizardry. They made an interesting into to time travel, but at the cost of either dropping the storyline or cramming next week's episode with too much. We'll just have to watch and see.

FINAL VERDICT!
THIS IS HOW YOU COME BACK FROM A BREAK! This episode sets the tone for the end of the season. It hits you in the emotions as we enter a situation that is Season Finale levels of heavy. With time travel finally used in the show, the numbers of possibilities. I only wish they could have not forced the romantic subplot in an already heavy story, though the out come with the tension between Barry and Eddie has begun to rise. I can't wait for next week's episode!

Thats it for this week's episode! What did you think of the episode? Leave a comment and I'll see you next time!

Here is the Paleyfest Trailer for the rest of the season it contains SPOILERS so fair warning!
