DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 4/25/2015

Welcome back to DC Comics Best Covers of the Week where artists compete in a series of physical challenges, each one more demanding than the last, culminating in a gladiatorial death match in the Weird Science Colosseum.  Only one warrior will survive, but that lone survivor will be crowned...Best Cover of the Week Person.  Who will the gods favor this week?  Let's see...

Best Cover of the Week

Convergence: The New Teen Titans #1 (Nicola Scott and Annette Kwok)

This cover looks amazing.  Nicola Scott is one of Eric's favorites and I'm really beginning to see why.  This cover just screams out "fun" and while the issue may have had a mopey Nightwing, I still really enjoyed it. If only Dick could just accept Kori's "tendencies" and get on with their life together.  Then he could be as happy as he looks when Nicola draws him.

Runners Up

Convergence: Batman and the Outsiders #1 (Andy Kubert and Brad Anderson)

This issue took me by surprise with how much I liked it.  This cover shows why...The Outsiders.  Just look at them...Black Lightning, Geo Force, Katana, Metamorpho and Halo.  Awesome! It takes a lot to put Batman in the backseat and this cover and issue does just that.

Convergence: Swamp Thing #1 (Kelley Jones and Michelle Madsen)

Kelley Jones nails the retro feel of Swamp Thing that made this whole issue a gem to read (and look at).  It's kind of bittersweet knowing that this Convergence Event will be the last time we see Swampy in his own solo book for the foreseeable future, but I am glad that Len Wein and Jones were the ones to do it.

Convergence: Justice League of America #1 (CrissCross and Snakebite Cortez)

Sure, being able to write "CrissCross and Snakebite Cortez" made this awesome all on it's own, but the two of them made such a great cover.  All the members look badass (especially Vibe), but it's the framing of the cover using Elongated Man that gave it that special touch.
