Booyah Bitches!  It's time to get back into action with our favorite techno titan Cyborg and even though I wasn't completely sold on this series after last month's first issue, I have to stay open minded because man did I beg DC to give me a Cyborg book and it just doesn't feel right to bitch after begging for so long.  In the previous issue, we had Cyborg going to his daddy to check out all the new things that his body can do after May's Sneak Peek, but after his father was more interested in the data than in his actual son, Cyborg got fed up and went to go have coffee with his friend Sarah......who he then completely blew off when the opportunity to talk about football with an old acquaintance appeared.  Nobody's getting any attention in this book, but with a battle waging out in space between the Technosapiens and the Tekbreakers, somebody better start paying close attention to what trouble they'll bring to our title character.  Let's jump into this issue and see if we can gleam any new details about what's really going down with these aliens and how it connects to Vic.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our story begins on a weird note because we begin with the Tekbreakers returning to their safe haven after their battle with the Technosapiens from the first issue....... which is fine, but it seems that these people have access to the Multiverse and start talking about how they killed Cyborg in May's Sneak Peek, but that doesn't make any sense since it appears that our first issue picked up after that.  All of this throws me for a loop, especially when we see that these people have the decayed body of what appears to be a earlier version of Cyborg.  It's all very cryptic and by the time this part is over, all I really know is that the Technosapiens mean doom for all.

Let's get to our title character and all the personal stuff that he inner monologues about.  After having what he believes to be just a bad dream about the Technosapiens, we follow Vic throughout his day while he contemplates about how he's perceived by people as he begins experimenting on what his body can now do.  It's actually a pretty cool couple of scenes where we delve into the man behind the machine and see what Cyborg actually feels about his situation, but all good things must come to an end.  After playing around with his body on his own, he goes to STAR Labs so he can use their equipment to analyse what's actually going on when he's cutting loose........which means interactions with his daddy........which means more mopey Cyborg with his daddy issues.  While this is going on, we constantly jump back and forth between scenes of Cyborg and that protester from the first issue with the pincher hand and the eye patch named Bobby Zirrozinski and how he's going to a underground doctor to get some unlicensed super prosthetics that leave him looking like Kano from Mortal Kombat.  This part is pretty cool, but what would have made it cooler is if we got any details about where these prosthetic limbs were coming from and if the scenes in this comic weren't constantly jumping back and forth without warning.

In the end, Sebastian Cardona, who's a friend to both Cyborg and this wanna-be Kano, goes and gets a coffee with Vic.  It's at this point when the whole book decides out of nowhere that shit is going to get real when Vic doubles over with pain.  Cyborg senses a signal and realizes that his nightmare wasn't just a dream, but a warning and that warning is that "they" are coming....... but I guess Cyborg isn't the top priority because that wanna-be Kano wakes up to find the Technosapiens looming over him........ who are possibly from a different Universe....... but I don't really know.

That's it for this issue of Cyborg and while I love the art in this book........ I don't know if I really love anything else.  The pacing in this issue feels really off and right from the get go I felt lost because I couldn't understand what the Tekbreakers were talking about and how they had the body of Cyborg.  It felt more like a cliffhanger than an opening and nobody wants to feel like a dummy right from the get go.  The small parts of this book where Cyborg is alone with his thoughts are enjoyable and the idea of an underground cyborg doctor helping people who have lost their limbs is good too, but this book doesn't really offer enough of either to really make it worthwhile and we're simply stuck with Cyborg continuing to feel sorry for himself while a war rages on that we don't fully understand.

Bits and Pieces:

While we begin making strides towards what this book is actually about, it feels like we're constantly putting on the breaks to try and figure out what's going on.  Just think about walking in a long hallway in the dark.  You know that you're moving forward, but you're not quite sure what's going on around you.  The art though continues to be great and I still have high hopes that this series will start sharing it's secrets and we'll get the Cyborg book that we've been begging for.

6/10
