Top 5 Fridays: Top 5 Bromances in DC Entertainment

Welcome to another exciting edition of Top 5 Fridays! With Valentines Day around the corner, it made me think of my past love life...and how it sucked. However let's be real, we've all dealt with heartbreak before, but more often than not there always is that one friend who will always be there for you...Your Bro. So today we'll be covering the Top 5 Bromances in DC Entertainment. When I say DC Entertainment, that means that I won't be looking to just the comics, but also TV shows and cartoons. As per usual this is my list, so if you don't see your favorite bromance up here, I apologize. ENOUGH TALK!  Let's begin!

5: Batman and Superman

Let's start the list with the bromance over 75 years in the making. Batman and Superman may not always agree on the same things, but we always find them fighting on the same side when it comes to battle. In their off time, we see Bruce join Clark when they aren't in uniform for events, Clark comes over to chat and a meal, Bruce inviting Superman for a team up etc. Bruce has always had Clark's back, both as Batman when Superman was declared public enemy number 1 by President Luthor or when he got his "own Joker" in the form of the Phantom King, and as Bruce Wayne like when he covers Clark's tracks when Superman is off world and go so far as buying the Daily Planet to make sure Clark has a job. With a friendship like that, you can bet Bruce would help however he can with Clark getting his powers back.

4: Cyborg and Beast Boy

This one is for all the cartoon fans out there. When the original Teen Titans came out, most of its viewers only knew one Titan, Robin, which meant that the writers had to flesh out the other four's characters. To make things a little simpler, they made Cyborg and Beast Boy into the prankster best friend cliche...and thus the fan favorites were born. Both kicked ass and took names, but also could kick back and enjoy the simpler things like video games, junk food, and Stank Ball. This carried on into Teen Titans Go, and while I hate the show, it actually made me smile that they kept those two pretty similar to their original counterparts. These two were able to keep me laughing and give me another reason to watch the original show.

3: Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy

This friendship is so good that I had to put it on, despite it being a Womance (woman bromance). I won't lie, the first time I saw these two team up made me realize Harley was more than just Joker's Girlfriend....she's Poison Ivy's too. Not romantically(mostly), but their love for one another has gotten them into strange but fun situations. A prime example of this is in Harley's current run; Despite being wanted, Poison Ivy makes her way up to help Harley after someone set up a bounty on her. Now I've known Ivy a lot longer than I've known Harley, and I have never seen her risk arrest for anyone before, unless it's a plant...Harley, her best girlfriend, is the exception.

2:  Flash/Green Lantern/Green Arrow

A three way friendship?!  Not quite. I was actually conflicted on which Green Lantern Friendship I was going to put up. On one hand, Flash and Green Lantern share wit, humor, the fact they've both been dead, and share adventures off world. On the other hand, Hal and Oliver spent their bromance time on a cross country trip together, fighting crime on the streets, and lest we forget who Hal left his ring and lantern to after he died. Then we have a new bromance that came from our new Arrowverse. Oliver became a better person when he met Barry, and Barry became a better hero when he met Oliver. As you can tell the decision was tough, so I went with all three! But at the core, all the friendships are the same due to the fact that they all make each other better people.

1: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle

Like you didn't expect these two up at number 1! Whenever I think of bromance or friendship in general in DC I INSTANTLY think of THESE two. They have a little bit of everything that the pairs above have. Like Batman and Superman, they have each others backs and would do anything to help them. Like Beast Boy and Cyborg, they are pranksters that work together. Like Harley and Ivy, they'd risk their lives for one another. Like Green Lantern, Arrow, and Flash, they are better people because of one another. If you still don't believe these two are truly the greatest bromance in DC consider this...Booster Gold risked destroying the entire space time continuum...just to bring his best friend back from death. If that isn't true friendship, I don't know what is.

That's it for this week's Top 5 Friday! What is your favorite bromance, womance, or just really good friendship? Leave a comment and I'll see you next time!

  1. Where would you put the Red Hood Arsenal bromance going on for more than 4 years now? Do you think its been forced or have the writers been able to create a legit friendship between those two?

    2. I think it's the most legit "New" friendship, since the new 52 started.

But this list is okay, I like all but the Flash/Green Lantern/Green Arrow.
      See here's the thing...I hate
      Hal Jordan XD

    2. The Cyborg&Shazam friendship is pretty much the same as beast boy & cyborg. It's just that Gar & Vic don't know each other since the new 52. But if the did I would put it like this

      1. Booster Gold & Blue Beetle; is truly what started Bromances in comics. There consideration on this list is undeniable. I wish they bring it back in The New 52. But then again I'd settle for them doing anything with Ted Kord. He could be a new hero and Booster can help him become that. And Ted can help booster be a good person.

      2. Cyborg & Beast Boy; There Friendship Pre Flashpoint is so strong you could consider them Brothers. Now they don't know each other. Hopefully there friendship translates to
Cyborg & Shazam because I think it's a staple charateristic to Victor that he needs family. Gar had to important relationships Pre Flashpoint, His Bro Victor, and his love for Raven.

      3. Red Hood & Arsenal; They weren't friends Pre Flashpoint. But they the "best definition of what friends are" in the New 52.

      4. Batman & Superman; Since the New 52 they have not been as close as they where Pre Flashpoint. But in the case of there friendship I'd say they are the yin & yang to each other.

      5. Harley & Ivy; even though there "Womance" has all been confirmed as an actual romance. But as strange as there relationship is it works and I wouldn't have it any other way.

  3. Batman and Superman will always be number one for me. Their bromance was so strong that they supported a team up book for decades.

  4. Can't believe no one has brought up the hero/villain friendship! There is no Batman without Joker, no Superman without Luthor, no Hal without Sinestro. I know they are not friends in the traditional sense but friends to end none the less.

  5. But by far the biggest DC Bromance has to be Werner and Shea, without them there would be no Weird Science!

  8. I counter all of this with Dick Grayson & Wally West (in Comics and the Young Justice animated series)
