Spotlight: The Issues and Covers of DC Comics "Super League" Crossover

“The Final Days of Superman” Have Begun

The Last Son of Krypton Searches for Members of His “Super-League” to Continue his Fight for Truth and Justice

Super League is off to a great start and as I said in my review for this week's Batman/Superman (HERE), "...Super League is already one of my favorite Superman stories since the New 52 started."  Yes, I know that it is kinda corny to quote yourself, but at least it's not as bad as giving yourself a nickname.  By the way, from now on I want everybody to call me "Sassafrass Johnson".  Where was I?  Oh yea, Super League has gotten off to a great start and if you are reading it, you know that Superman is dying.  Dying for a cheeseburger?  Maybe, but no.  Superman is really dying as in "dead and buried and never coming back until he does come back because that happens all the time in comics: dying. The following is a list of the issues involved as well as the covers for each issue.

The devastating effects of Apokolips’ fire pits in JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARKSEID WAR, the A.R.G.U.S. Kryptonite chamber from “Savage Dawn” in SUPERMAN, and his battle with the would-be god Rao in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA all combine in a perfect storm of death for the Man of Steel. Determined to protect humanity, despite his impending death, Superman embarks on a quest to seek heroes from across the DC Universe to continue his role as humanity’s protector.

DC Entertainment proudly presents “The Final Days of Superman.” Writer Peter J. Tomasi architects this epic saga, encompassing all four Super-titles in April and May.

  1. I am intrested to see the fate of N52 Superman. If I had to guess I'd say both N52 & Preflashpoint will merge into a new superman. I just can't see Preflashpoint Superman Letting N52 Clark die, and then take his Place. That would be an asshole thing to do, and Pre Flashpoint Superman is anything but an asshole.

    1. my hypothesis is that if New 52 superman dies, he'll die doing something to save the world: like how all star superman flew into the sun(after being poisoned by Solaris) giving it his super cells full of solar radiation

    4. I was thinking about doing it...but frankly all the signs are pointing to new 52 supes dying(THE REBIRTH SOLICITATION DIDNT HELP) it wouldn't be fun to theorize about if you can call your shot a mile away XD

    5. I think that Romita Cover is very telling of what is going to happen.

    6. I feel like if they merge into one, only one can remain dominant personality. This merged Superman can't be married to Lois and have a kid AND still date Wonder Woman

    7. As Much as I hate it, the fact is that N52 Clark broke up with Wonder Woman. And the way I see them merging is since N52 Clarks body is dyeing,
Pre Flashpoint Clark absorbs his Mind & merges it with his. Then we will have a Pre Flashpoint Clark armed with all the knowledge & Expierence of N52 Clark & Pre Flashpoint Clark....if that makes any sense at all:)

  2. It seems to me like one will become a permanent superman and the other a permanent clark kent. Thus giving back Superman a secret identity.
