Well, we've finally come to the end people and I gotta tell you....... I've been pretty freaking lost this series. What with the timelines that don't seem to match up, our Titans apparently forgetting about Mr. Twister as a way to keep him at bay...... even though the townsfolk seem to have forgotten too.... It's all very weird, but if we can get beyond that and get some bad ass Titans stories out of this, well I'm all for it. In our previous issue, we had a bunch of our Titans taking a break from this story to deal with Diablo and even though they were kind of explained, it didn't seem to work with this series and everything else that's been going on, but now that we're done with that it's time to get a convergence going on so all of our Titan heroes can get to Mr. Twister's dark tower so that they can finally....... hopefully take him down so that we can get all the answers that have been plaguing us throughout this series. Let's jump into this issue and see what's what. let's check it out.
Explain It!:
Our conclusion to this series jumps right at us like a goddamn spider-monkey with all limbs flailing. We've got Nightwing, Donna Troy, Garth and Mal face to face with the demonic Mr. Twister, while Roy Harper, Gnarrk, Lilith Clay, Hawk and Dove make their way up his dark tower. I know that people get sick of my horror talk and horror comparisons to things, but Mr. Twister besides for the fact that he's working to bring some awful Cthulu thing into this world, is really just like Freddy Krueger. Yeah, he doesn't have to exactly attack our heroes in their dreams, but he does derive his powers from them remembering him as we saw in Freddy Vs. Jason and just like we saw at the end of the original Nightmare on Elm St., our heroes defeat him when they realize that Twister has no real power over them........ but I'm jumping ahead.
So yeah, we've got all our Titans coming together to take on Mr. Twister, but we've also got Mal singing a song into Twister's bone organ, that is allowing a monster from another world to enter this one so that it can consume it. Yeah, shit's getting crazy and it continues to get crazy when Bumblebee shows up and Mr. Twister is talking about the ten Teen Titans coming together finally........ Which is weird because Bumblebee wasn't one of those original Titans that we saw in the flashbacks, where our Titans originally fought Twister and then purposely forgot about him as a way to beat him. She's here now though and apparently that's enough to complete the circle that this series has been, but luckily our heroes don't dwell in the past and use the idea that they're no longer who they once were as a way to push past Twister's control over them........ All except Hawk that is. He's just the same as he was from years ago. What I'm getting at is that none of our heroes are teenagers anymore and none of them go by what they once did, taking the power away from Twister with the way this conjuring seems to work. It's a good thing that Hawk has stayed the same as he always has though because he uses the hate and rage that he has for Twister killing his brother so many years ago to break Twister's control over him and start beating the holy shit out of him.
In the end, our group drop the Teen from their name and declare themselves Titans and then all work together to beat Mr. Twister........ which portrayed Garth as having some sort of energy blasts from his eyes..... or water vision if you will. Maybe Garth has been seen having this ability in the past, I just don't recall it and it seems weird. Even Mal gets with it and starts singing a new song into the bone organ, closing the door to the monster that is on it's way and ultimately it's closed when our team throw Mr. Twister into the void. As our issue closes, Hawk and Dove fly Mal and Karen to the hospital because she's going into labor and the rest of our group stop by a diner to celebrate and to talk about the Titans of the future. They also discuss who Karen stood in for from their original team since it was important to have ten Teen Titans at that ritual........ and this ending is pretty bad ass because we're just left with a yellow lightning strike, letting us know that Kid Flash is coming after Rebirth and I really hope that Pre-Flashpoint Wally West's entrance is handled in a way that makes some kind of sense.
That's it for this series of Titans Hunt and even though somethings weren't cleared up here, like how Donna Troy existed five years ago when she was only created recently in Wonder Woman and how Bumblebee has powers or even Don's death in this not quite matching up to the continuity of Hawk and Dove's series........ but even with that, I had a decent time with this issue. This whole series is weird as hell and to really enjoy it I think you can't take it too seriously. It's just a springboard to Rebirth and I'm curious if this is something that will read better in a trade than waiting month to month. The art in this issue is great and we get time with all our characters taking on the villain, which looks awesome with the style and colors of this book. All in all, it's a wrap up to this that sort of works and ends on a awesome note, where Kid Flash is being teased and who wouldn't be excited about that?

Titans Hunt may not clear up all the lingering questions that the readers have had throughout this series, but what it does is give you an entertaining issue with all our Titans characters coming together and taking on the bad guy one final time. It's the Stephen King's IT of the DCU and while it may not live up to the concept completely, the art looked great and it left us on an exciting note that teases us for what's going to happen in Rebirth.

I hope it's Kid Flash... I took it literally to mean whoever Thunder and Lightning are, they are here ha ha.
