Well guys and gals, it's almost over.  This is the penultimate issue of Injustice and I have mixed feelings.  I hate to see one of my favorite books end, but it's sure had one hell of a ride!  Seriously, for a video game tie-in comic, Injustice has kicked ass.  In fact, it kind of dropped the whole tie-in connection awhile back and stood on it's own as just a really good comic to me.  So, it's with a heavy heart that I review the last two issues of a book that I've been reading and reviewing almost every week for years.  Is this issue any good?  Let's find out...

The issue opens with Superman getting a visitor that could end this whole damn war once and for all.  It's Catwoman and while she completely sells out Batman, she's doing it all for love.  She does want Superman to promise her that if she tells him where Batman is hiding, Supes will not harm Bruce.  I wish we saw the Man of Steel crossing his fingers behind his back because we all know he isn't really going to agree with that!

We then head off to Alaska to see Batman and Lex working on the Dimensional Transporter they need to use to get our Earth's Justice League to lend a helping hand.  This is a very odd scene, not because of what happens here, but what has already happened.  We just saw the machine in action last issue and I really think these issues would have been better served if their order was switched.

While Lex and Batman look at the other Universe, Batwoman and Batgirl bust in...Superman has found them!  They Boom Tube Lex out and Batman leaves the gals to pull the heroes they need into their Universe while he deals with his old friend.  By "deal", I do mean get the shit kicked out of him!

The rest of the issue involves Superman beating up Batman (hey, he promised Catwoman he wouldn't hurt "Bruce Wayne") while Batwoman and Batgirl try to get the machine running despite it getting the crap heat visioned out of it.  Again, there might be some tension if we didn't already know that they would succeed.  The issue ends with the other Joker showing Harley her Nuke and Superman about to end the War without prejudice.

We are going to have to wait until the finale to see the other heroes enter the Injustice Universe and  I really can't wait.  Brian Buccellato has been in an odd fix in this last Year.  He has to get the comic in line with the beginning of the game and he's doing a good job of it.  Still, I can't help but wonder if the order of these issues got messed up somehow because as they stand, it makes no sense.  Oh well, we are up to speed and ready for the finale.

Mike S. Miller's art has really impressed me in this final Year, but not this week.  I wasn't a fan of his Superman (he looked old) and their is a lack of backgrounds that makes everything looked rushed and generic.  Maybe he is more focused on the finale...if he is on it.

Bits and Pieces:

After seeing the heroes (and villains) of the other Universe get teleported last week, it was odd to go back in time to see how it happened.  Actually, that would have been okay, but this just seemed like it was released out of sequence and knowing what already happened takes away the tension.  I hope Buccellato and Company have something big planned for the last issue because this was really sub par.

6.0/10

  1. This book is my weekly guilty pleasure and not sure what I will do once it goes away. Regardless the last issue will be very very interesting with how they end it. I'm hoping for a longer than normal issue to fit in all of the awesomeness!

  2. I don't know what I would do if this series ends. It is the only comic series I read every week. I have enjoyed it tremendously. Though It is sad to see these famous dc heroes(justice league) fighting amongst themselves. I really hope another series would be released after this that reunites them, that is, if they don't kill each other off.

    1. Tom Taylor is doing Injustice 2 tie-in comic. I think someone else will review it on the site, though
