To say I was excited about the return of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo to an Injustice book is a huge understatement.  The original Injustice comic is still one of my favorites and this is coming from a guy who never played the game.  That's going to be the case with Injustice 2, but that in no way is stopping me from finding out what's going on in the Injustice world with my two favorite creators.  I could go on and on about all of this, but I am so eager to jump right in and so I will.  Here goes...

The issue starts with two old friends having a little chat.  Well, I guess it's not just a "little chat" any time Batman and Superman get together, but that is a HUGE understatement in the Injustice Universe.

Superman is in prison, of course, but he wants to know what kind of world Batman plans to set up now that he has won the war.  It's not easy to forget the awful things Superman has done (in fact, he points some greatest hits out later), but he does speak some truth here and Batman is the first to recognize it.

When he leaves the Man of Steel, he leaves with the only one left with him...Harley Quinn.  Tom Taylor reminds everyone that he is the best Harley writer out there, but we also see that this world is going to take a lot of rebuilding to get back on it's feet.  Still, Harley is awesome and luckily, we stick with her for the remainder of the issue.

She leaves Bats and heads back to the Quiver and if you are a long time Injustice reader, you are smiling a big toothy smile right now!  That good times continue when she gets a phone call, but end abruptly when the alarms go off.

That's when Injustice takes a cue from the normal and Amanda Waller shows up to take Harley away.  Again, Harley is so awesome, but in the end, it's a whole bunch of bad guys against her and what's a girl to do.  She does get through to Batman before being taken, but as of now, she is a member of a certain Squad.

That may sound like I'm spoiling too much, but the awesome part is just who this Squad consists of and guessing who they are supposed to go after.  I have a few guesses, but I'm not telling.

This is a quick read, but it was so awesome to get back in the saddle again.  Tom Taylor knows these characters so well and picks his best to start out with.  His Harley is the best, but it's easy to forget how well he writes this Superman.  This issue shows that he is the king of trash talking, bar none.  This chapter only gives us a tiny glimpse at the new world we have before us, but I loved what we got.

I also loved Bruno Redondo's art.  I have always said that he has a knack for drawing the best version of every character and that continues here.  The issue looks outstanding!

Bits and Pieces:

Injustice 2 is here and it was worth the wait.  Tom Taylor doesn't need big explosions or fights to impress, just the great characterizations that made his original Injustice such a hit.  Bruno Redondo joins in with excellent art and Injustice 2 is a book I can easily recommend.
