*Non Spoilers and Scores At The Bottom*

Raptor's in town for a few days to kill and as we've seen recently, he's changing up his game from being the modern day Robin Hood to straight up sacrificing anyone he can in order to achieve his mission....... which may just happen now that he's teamed up with Pigeon to not only take Nightwing down, but Blockbuster as well.  Let's jump into this issue and see if the Run-Offs are any help as Dick Grayson is confronted by Raptor while he's working at Roland Desmond's casino.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with Raptor confronting Dick Grayson at his casino job and while Raptor goes off on his motives about why he's going after Bludhaven as a hole........ it's full of douchebags who would sacrifice the poor to become richer is my takeaway, it seems that Dick has been doing his own thinking about Raptor since the last time they met and has decided that Raptor isn't shit because he builds this brand around him to try and make himself feel like the hero of his story, while it was because of him that Dick's parents died......... If you don't know, Raptor was obsessed with Dick's mother Mary and would always check on things before they performed, but somehow Dick deduced that Raptor was more enthralled with the idea of stealing from Bruce Wayne than being the protector he saw himself as........... Yeah, somehow this seems to be right and Raptor goes with it, but instead of being upset, he just lets his plan go into motion, where he's apparently slipped the Blockbuster serum into the drinks and or oyster bar at the casino and now Dick is forced to stop the citizens and tourists of Bludhaven from tearing him apart, while also, not hurting them in the process.

While that's going on, the Run-Offs figure out Raptor's plan by hacking into Pigeon's computer and since Nightwing is pretty preoccupied, it seems that it's up to the Run-Offs to stop the villains and save Bludhaven.  First though, they'll need to recruit a wayward member of their group....... Orca.

That's it for this issue of Nightwing and while the new backstory about why Raptor does what he does and looks the way he looks is a little hokey...... you know, because Nightwing just put this together in the theater of his mind, it does play out pretty cool though and getting this story right before we see Raptor's plan put into motion was a sweet addition to what we had going on in this story.......... not to mention that I love the Run-Offs and I'm happy as hell to see them stepping up here.  All in all, the art was great in this issue and I'm really looking to see where we go with this story, I just wish that the new interpretation of Raptor wasn't as silly as it comes off here.

Bits and Pieces:

This issue of Nightwing gives us a new look at Raptor and while the way we come across it comes off kind of silly, it's a decent backstory nonetheless and being accompanied by excellent art the entire way through didn't hurt it either.  We got some fun stuff in this issue with every character coming into play, I just really hope that the momentum doesn't stop going forward.

7/10
