First Impressions
This comic hits the ground running with an intense flashback that sets a dark, gritty tone before heading into a modern-day showdown with tons of action and at least one major surprise. The art is explosive and full of energy, pulling you right into the chaotic battle.
Recap
In the previous issue, Superman was shot with radioactive slivers of Krypton and was on the brink of death. The Omega Men, who had been hunting him, saved his life using a "Father Box." At the same time, Lois Lane was being blackmailed by the head of the Lazarus Corporation, Ra's al Ghul, who was using her father's health to control her. The issue concluded with Superman recovering and joining forces with the Omega Men, even though their violent tactics conflicted with his personal morals, setting up the central conflict for this issue.
Plot Analysis
Absolute Superman #10 begins with a flashback to Krypton, years before the planet's destruction. Jor-El, a miner, is leading a rescue team deep beneath the surface when they are attacked by aggressive Magmoles. Jor-El fights to save his fellow miners, and the scene is narrated as a reflection on the Kryptonian people, who have a legacy of both strength and violence.
The story then jumps to the present day at a Lazarus Corps Research Facility in Greenland. The facility is under attack, and the pilots of "Sky Patrol" are being shot down by an unseen force. The ground troops realize they are being targeted by "The Superman," who is now operating as a member of the Omega Men, a radical group labeled as terrorists by Lazarus Corps. A news report reveals that an "accused terrorist" named Timmy Olsen is being held at the facility (That's not a misspelling. Jimmy Olsen is quite annoyed that the press got his name wrong).
Superman, showing incredible speed, dispatches the soldiers on the ground with ease. He is not just fighting but actively destroying the Lazarus Corps facility. He seems to have fully committed to the Omega Men's cause, or at least to taking down Lazarus Corp.
The issue ends with Superman's mission to destroy the facility completing successfully, but Ra's Al Ghul gains the upper hand when Superman is stabbed in the back (literally) by Primus, who reveals herself to be Talia Al Ghul.
Writing
The writing in this issue is a powerhouse of action and sharp dialogue. The pacing is relentless, which makes for an exhilarating read. Aaron does a good job of balancing the intense action with the more subtle world-building, and he uses the flashback to great effect. However, the narration can be a bit heavy-handed at times, telling the reader what to think instead of letting the events speak for themselves.
Art
The art is the star of the show. Di Giandomenico's linework is incredibly dynamic and full of energy, making every panel feel alive. The action sequences are breathtaking, and you can practically feel the force of Superman's movements. Arreola’s colors perfectly complement the gritty tone of the book, with a dark palette punctuated by fiery explosions and vibrant bursts of power. It's a visually stunning comic from start to finish.
Characters
This issue portrays a much more focused and determined Superman than we've seen before. He's no longer just reacting to events but is actively making a stand. He's still conflicted, but he's channeling that anger into action. Jor-El's brief appearance in the flashback adds a layer to Superman's history, showing that his lineage has always been about fighting for survival in a harsh world. It's an interesting way to connect Superman's past to his present-day struggle.
Positives
The comic's greatest strengths are its stunning art and incredible pacing. The action sequences are visually spectacular and have a real sense of impact. The narrative is tight, and the story moves forward at a thrilling speed. The way the writers connect Superman's Kryptonian past to his current fight is a clever way to add depth to his character. This issue is a relentless, no-holds-barred superhero spectacle.
Negatives
One of the issue's weakest points is its sometimes-overbearing narration. It occasionally spells out the book's themes too explicitly, which can feel a little heavy-handed. There's also a slight abruptness in how Superman goes from being internally conflicted to fully-committed, which could have been explored more gradually.

Final Thoughts
Absolute Superman #10 is an adrenaline-fueled issue that continues to solidify this new vision of the character. The art and pacing are phenomenal, and while the writing has a few minor flaws, it delivers a thrilling and impactful story. The comic successfully balances its core themes of revolution and legacy with raw, explosive action, making it a definite must-read.
