Okay, so we have the Suicide Squad movie coming out this Summer, and it’s going to be a hit. Forget the crap you’re reading online about reshoots and the studio’s cold feet or whatever, the team’s formula of murderous, trash-talking anti-heroes will resonate so strongly with pubescent boys and Harley Quinn will resonate so strongly with pubescent girls that I predict a run on tattoo parlors nationwide, a rush to have logos and ephemera from the film crudely stained onto teenage skin—mark my words! So clearly Greg Berlanti can’t use the Suicide Squad (and indeed, more or less dispensed with the TV incarnation earlier in this season of Arrow), how about the Secret Six? Come on, Zack Snyder is never going to use Catman, or Scandal Savage, or Ragdoll, and Legends of Tomorrow has proven a willingness to use a superhero team…though I wouldn’t say it’s been to great effect thus far. Nevertheless, I am beginning my campaign to Beg Greg Berlanti to Make a Secret Six TV Show with this rambling introduction to my review of Secret Six #12! I had big plans for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Deviations review for Just for the Hell of it Mondays, but after reading it, I realized that before I could review a "what if" issue, it might be a good idea to get a better idea of "what is" and "what was".  You see, my love of the Turtles has only just begun and while I am trying to be a good student and a quick learner, in actuality, I am neither.  I do like reading fun comics that look great and that's what lead me to this issue.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #21 is a great issue to jump into...it leads into the "City Fall" story, but is pretty stand alone, but the big draw is Kevin Eastman's art.  I may be a rookie, but I even know how big it is to have the originator on art.  So, it's with open eyes and love in my heart that I give you my review for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #21...

The thing I like most about Just for the Hell of It Mondays is that we get to review books that interest us, but may not get the attention that the Big Two's books get.  I'm not saying that we are going to make a difference or turn a book into a hit, but at least the people coming to our site get an idea of what we like besides DC Comics.  Action Labs has a bunch of books that interest me and this is one of them.  Cyrus Perkins and the Haunted Taxi Cab caught my eye when it debuted and now I get to review it for the site.  That's a win for me...but is it any good, you ask?  Let's find out...

I loved Heavy Metal magazine when I was in junior high, I think I was drawn to the lush artwork as well as the dismissive, authoritative way I could assert that the publication had nothing to do with the musical genre of the same title. And the tits. I was drawn to the tits. I brought an issue to school one day and passed it around the lunchroom, and was eventually caught by some monitor or other authority figure that confiscated the publication and forwarded it, along with myself, to the Dean’s Office. There, Mr. Whatsizname and I pored over the pages and praised the meticulous renderings therein, tits included, and then he gave the magazine back to me and told me never to bring it to school again. Well that has nothing to do with today’s Just For the Hell Of It Mondays review of The Doorman issues #1 and #2, except they’re put out by Heavy Metal Comics, which I didn’t know existed. And Kevin Eastman, aka Mr. One-half-of-the-guys-that-created-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles seems to be in charge of the whole thing. Where the hell have I been? Either these comics contain little to no nudity, or my Tit-Radar is on the fritz. I won’t count that against the Doorman, so read on for my review of two whole comic books!

Ken Marion, which harkens back to a much-reviled series that ran through DC Comics in the bloated funny book landscape of the 1990s. It was notable, perhaps, due to having run across a series of Annuals that did not cross over with regular continuity, and it was therefore easy to ignore by successive creative teams. Oh, it's another one of those big bad fifties coming at us and this time we're looking at what Wonder Woman has to offer and if it's anything like what we've been given........... Well, I'm not too optimistic.  That's a shitty attitude though and I'll go into this like I do everything else, hoping beyond hope that we'll get one of those redeeming stories that makes everything that hasn't been stellar worthwhile.  In the previous issue we saw our hero go on a task to cure Baby Zeke of his mysterious illness, which led us to the mother of the Earth: Gaia, but Gaia wasn't about to help any gods since she was betrayed by her children, which led us to Hecate, the Goddess of Witchcraft and Necromancy.......... and with a title like that, well I wouldn't be too trusting, but apparently Wonder Woman doesn't share my sentiment because after being told a story about how this God could restore Baby Zeke if she was given the orbs at the bottom of Hera's scrying pool, Diana went off on a journey to betray her Olympian family.  Let's jump into this over-sized issue and see how far Wonder Woman's willing to fall in the eyes of the Gods to save Baby Zeke.  Let's check it out.

Weird Science DC Comics Podcast Ep 65: Four Books, Curse Words and Tri-Klops

Jim and Eric are joined by Reggie (until he has to go to sleep) and even though they only have four books to discuss, they manage to yap for over four hours.  They disagree about the Batman and Robin Eternal finale, but mostly agree on Aquaman #50, Justice League of America #8 and Omega Men #10.  You also get Eric's "Shut Up, My Stories are On" segment featuring Supergirl for the first and last time and Jim and Reggie's Digital Spotlight with Wonder Woman '77 #20 and Injustice Year Five #15.  WARNING: If you do not like nonsense mixed in with your comic talk, avoid the last 30 minutes or so...it was real late and I'm not sure what happened there.  Enjoy!

I have been enjoying this series so much and now that we have almost all of the players in place, things can only get better. I can't wait to see Kirk, Spock and Hal save the day and...oh, who am I kidding?  While we want our heroes to win in the end, the best parts are always those darkest before the dawn moments where they tighten up their belts by one loop and don't feel the hunger pains as the shit hits the fan.  After last issue's ending, there is a real good chance that the shit will not only hit the fan, but will spray all over the walls and ruin your brand new comforter you got on sale at Sears.  You love that comforter.  By the way, who squats over a spinny thing with metal blades and drops a deuce anyway? DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 8 "Night of the Hawk" Review and **SPOILERS**

Legends of Tomorrow has largely been an ok show. Is it as exciting and fun as the Flash? No. Is it as droll and confused as Arrow? No. So I approached this episode like I'd normally approach a movie starring Jackie Chan, with love but apprehension.

Anyways, I am glad to watch this episode. The setting of "Night of the Hawk", takes place in the 1950's (an era that I've only experienced through Back to the Future) and as a curious person I want to know more about it. I know Jim spent his early twenties in that time period, but for some reason he refuses to say anything about it. I guess, that means I should get on with the review then..

So that gives this arc a neat four issues to do whatever it’s going to do, which isn’t likely to be very much. Unless this is one of the books continuing while Rebirth debuts? The whole thing is so confusing, I can’t figure out what’s going to happen come June. Looks to me like we’re currently on the Wonder Girl Character Rehab Tour right now, which is a pretty noble endeavor since she has been a real drag in this series. Hopefully this will cheer some fans of the character before the book is totally revamped? I feel like I’m playing a violin on the sinking Titanic here. This is a book that is an odd choice for me to review...I am not the biggest Green Lantern fan amongst the Weird Science Get Fresh Crew and am way more of a Star Wars guy than a Star Trek nerd.  However, sometime when the bell sounds, somebody has to answer it and that someone is me.  I am actually the third person on the site to review this crossover, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's not any good.  Circumstances beyond our control kept this series from getting the attention and review completion it deserved and that's where I come in to save the day.  Yes, I will from this day forth be known as the Star Trek/Green Lantern Guy and I shall wear that moniker with pride and dignity.  So, who's the biggest nerd now, bitches?  On to the review...
