We're into Chapter 3 with this issue so if you haven't read The Flash #767, the Second Chapter to this story, get on that first and then come on back.  Alright, now that you've gone and done your due diligence, let's continue with this story and hopefully find out more about the Frost King and what our heroes are going to do to slow down or better yet stop the permafrost that's going on all over the world, not to mention the ice monsters that just seem to be attacking people at random.  Let's jump into this issue and see if Endless Winter starts picking up the pace a bit or if the majority or if this story will become the Endless Beginning.  Let's check it out.

Like the first part of this story, the flashback bits are the thing that's keeping me interested in this event because as of right now, how the Frost King became the Frost King and the idea of heroes from 10 AD having to get together to stop him comes off interesting as hell and it continues being interesting here as we discover the Frost King origins and his motivations for becoming such a menacing threat not only to our present-day but to the world of 10 AD.  Yeah, it's not all formed yet, but it's ten times better than Superman flying around fighting ice monsters and being told by family that he's a dope and that he doesn't need to save those closest to him.

That's essentially the story for this one-shot special.  Beyond the intriguing flashback, we just have Superman doing a whole lot of nothing interesting since our real threat hasn't revealed himself since he was awoken in the first chapter of this story.  Smashing ice monsters here, flying over there, continuing to punch some more ice monsters, while Lois Lane is doing her own hero thing in Metropolis and Ma and Pa Kent are being looked after by Krypto on the farm and who shockingly, doesn't seem too concerned about what's going on in the world.  By the end of the issue though, we move back to Sebastian Stagg, who has uncovered something peculiar about the ice he pulled out of the former spot of the Fortress of Solitude.

All in all, the story of our present-day battle against the Frost King is pretty bland and doesn't allow our Man of Steel to do much beyond be assured that the rest of the world needs him, while his family is safe on their own.  The flashback and origins of the Frost King remain the best part of this story and I can only hope that when that becomes all fleshed out that the main story will pick up the pace a bit, but I'm afraid that the heroes from 10 AD will upstage that as well.  With not a solid story in my mind, I was really hoping that the art would capture my attention but that too was pretty bland and I left this not being a fan at all.

Bits and Pieces:

The Endless Winter story continues to be lackluster in my mind, while the original setup of what went down in 10 AD is the star of the show but sadly, we're not getting enough of anything here to keep me happy and on top of that, I wasn't a fan of the art this issue.  I really hope as these chapters continue that we'll be getting more for our present-day heroes to do because smashing ice monsters left and right isn't keeping me interested.

5.3/10
