Justice League: Last Ride #6 Review

Next to Last Ride

Writer: Chip Zdarsky
Artist: Miguel Mendonca
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

I haven't been as big a fan as most when it comes to this Zdarsky joint, but it only takes a solid ending to change that.  Hopefully, this penultimate issue gets things rolling for me and sets up a strong finish that makes this one a winner.  Do we get that in this issue?  Let's find out...

Strange Adventures #12 Review

Colors By:  Evan "Doc" Shaner, Mitch Gerards

Strange Adventures #12 ends the grand, strange experiment of lies, spies, and secret deals. In the end, Adam Strange is no longer the same, and readers get very little by way of resolution on any level. The net result is characters moving on with their sad, broken lives.

Batman: Urban Legends #8 Review

Biggest Book Ever?

Writer: Brandon Thomas, Dan Watters, Christian Ward, Alyssa Wong
Artist: Vasco Georgiev, Cian Tormey, Nikola Cizmesija, Christian Ward
Cover Price: $7.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

I was worried that after Chip Zdarsky's Red Hood story ended, this book would no longer have the spark it started with.  That has 100% happened, and I am still waiting for something else to make this a must-read.  I love Batwoman, so I'm hoping that may do the trick as she leads the charge this month.  Let's jump into it and see if this issue gets this book back on my pull list...

Wonder Woman #780 Review

Back in the Saddle Again

Writer: Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad
Artist: Travis Moore
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: October 13, 2021

Well, we are finally here...Wonder Woman is back on Earth, and I couldn't be happier.  Unfortunately, it took a bit longer than I had hoped to get here, and while others seemed to love her trek through the "multiverse," I wasn't impressed.  Conrad and Cloonan seem to have their hearts in the right place, but they also drag things on way too long, but again, we are finally here!  So, let's jump into this and see if the journey was worth it...

Superman and the Authority #4 Review

Warworld Here We Come!

Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Mikel Janin
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

This book is an odd one.  Supposedly, it would be the ongoing Clark Kent/Superman book of 5G, but after that was canceled, it became a setup for Philip Kennedy Johnson's Warworld story.  It doesn't entirely jive with the book it's leading into, and readers have to look past things that don't make sense in the overall continuity, but despite that, I've enjoyed it.  Grant Morrison is giving readers some underused characters and doing some damn good character work on them. But, it all ends here, and I can't be the only one worried about how the ending will or will not tie into the ongoing Action Comics story. So, let's see what we get and if it's any good...

I Am Batman #2 Review

Anarky On The Streets...... Literally

Written By: John Ridley
Art By: Stephen Segovia, Rex Lokus, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

What's going on with the next Batman now that we saw that Anarky went and got himself all shot to hell at the end of the last issue? Well, probably the same thing he's been doing since The Next Batman: Second Son, where he was trying to take down a sleazeball named Arkadine, who was tied in with a conspiracy to get civilian protestors shot, not to mention a person over the internet known as The Seer, who is spreading false information and raising an army through fear and paranoia. Let's jump into this issue and see what Jace Fox is up to now that he's got his Batman costume and has that legacy on his side. Let's check it out.

Titans United #2 Review

A New Challenger Appears

Written By: Cavan Scott
Art By: Jose Luis, Jonas Trindade, Rex Lokus, Carlos M. Mangual
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

Let's jump back into the world of Cavan Scott's Titans United, where the Titans we've seen on the HBO series are the ones that are featured here but we really don't have a background on the continuity to know how it all really works out or why these heroes stay together........ or more specifically, why the hell do they let Red Hood on the team, but it's an interesting mix of heroes who have to deal with the idea that people for some reason have their powers and it's burning them out and as we saw at the end of the last issue, it looked like Kite-Man was displaying these powers and he was using them against Hawk and Dove. Let's dive into this issue and see if the Titans can get to the bottom of what's going on..... and if Jason Todd can stop being a dick. Let's check it out.

The Joker #8 Review

The Birthplace Of Vengeance

Written By: James Tynion IV, Sam Johns
Art By: Guillem March, Arif Prianto, Tom Napolitano, Rosi Kampe, Marissa Louise, Ariana Maher
Cover Price: $5.99
Release Date: October 12, 2021

The hunt for the Joker continues this issue with Jim Gordon and the Daughter of Bane, Vengeance. Previously, we saw Jim Gordon working with Interpol's head of the super-villains unit, the adequately nicknamed Madame Halloween and it looked like the two hit it off pretty well in that they would work together to hunt down the Joker if Gordon would also help her track down a group called "The Network", and if for some reason there was an accident in the apprehension of the Clown Prince of Crime at the end of it all.... You know, something like he was accidentally shot to death by Gordon..... Well, Madame Halloween would look the other way and chalk it up to "shit happens". I don't know how well this pairing will be though because at the end of the issue it looked like Vengeance wanted to interrupt the meeting. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.
