Dark Crisis: Young Justice #2 Review

Price: $3.99

This series is incredibly frustrating for me. I was excited to read it, I came out of comic reviewing retirement for it, I want to love it, but it is just not good. Any long-time fan of these characters probably feels the same way because of the disrespect to the characters, though maybe if the story made any sense, people could be a tad forgiving. Alas, the plot is a convoluted mess, and the attempts to do meta-commentary are falling flat when the story itself is so lackluster. Let's dive in. Spoilers ahead.

.The search for Barry Allen continues with our Dark Crisis tie-in. In the previous issue, we saw the West kids go and muck things up when Wally got Wallace West, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury, and Jay Garrick together to search the Multiverse for Barry Allen's signature and Irey and Jai decided to take the hero-ing into their own hands. This separated our heroes into three worlds, Jesse and Max into the Mad Max world, Jai and Irey into the Batman/Flash amalgam, and Wally and Wallace into Barry's dream world, where Pariah imprisoned him. The big question is..... What the hell happened to Jay Garrick? Let's jump into this issue and see if we get that answer and also find out what everyone else is up to in their search. Let's check it out.

Black Adam #2 Review

The Power Of Family

Written By: Priest
Art By: Rafa Sandoval, Matt Herms, Willie Schubert
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: July 19, 2022

In our first issue of Black Adam, it seemed that our former foe of Shazam! is now dying after a confrontation with Desaad and a fake Darkseid, but instead of simply going gently into that good night, Adam decided that his power should live on and with that he has chosen a descendant of his to inherit his power. The only problem is..... at least from my point of view from what we got in the previous issue, the descendant and heir apparent is an insufferable, walking-pop culture-dispenser. I can only hope that his new character, Malik White can calm down a bit and I can get on his side but as of right now, this series hasn't grabbed me the way I wanted it to. Let's jump into this issue and see if that can change.
