Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

We got Themyscira back, Veronica Cale got Isadore back and Chetah stabbed Aphrodite in the back (not really, but I have a thing going here!), so what are we going to get this week...Sir Mix-a-Lot?  I doubt it, but anything's possible.  So, do we get a little Oakland bootie all up in here?  Let's find out...

Batman: Curse of the White Knight #2 Review

Writer: Sean Murphy
Art Team: Sean Murpy, Matt Hollingsworth, AndWorld Design
DC Comics Black Label
Release Date: August 28, 2019
Cover Price: $4.99

Bat Zorro

The first issue of Batman: Curse of the White Knight was a lot more of a continuation of the previous series than a fresh jumping on point for anyone who may have missed the fun the first time around.  Personally I'm just fine with that, sometimes you have to go back a few issues to understand whats going on now, that's just the nature of comics. So we picked up where the last series left off, with new connections to the Wayne family and Gothams past coming to light, meanwhile Azrael is thrown into the mix and I was excited to see where this all went again. Sean Murphy grabbed me again so lets see whats continuing to simmer in issue two.

Martian Manhunter #8 Review and Spoilers

Too Deep?

Written by: Steve Orlando

Art by: Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia
Letters by: Andworld Design
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

Is this book hitting its stride? It's an interesting question and one that any reviewer worth his salt should be able to answer. The short answer is "I think so, yes," but there remain nagging unresolved doubts in my head which plague my mind like a swarm of nonsense-infected gnats and I'm beginning to think that I can't see the wood for the trees. Those doubts are mostly about the overall story of this series and the time it's taken to get us to this point. Put bluntly, the creative team have dithered and dallied when a more direct approach might have been better. But, what do I know? I'm just a reviewer at the end of the day. I'm probably missing something obvious. Hmmm… Well, let's get on with issue 8, shall we?

Red Hood: Outlaw #37 Review

School of Hard Knocks

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Kenneth Rocafort, Steve Firchow, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

Now that Jason Todd has gotten an offer from Lex to become a teacher to the next generation of meta-humans, I think that this book is going to go in a weird, new and hopefully interesting place, which really, it's needed because while I do enjoy this title, it does come off as stale every now and again and a this feels like something that will keep it pretty fresh for at least the Year of the Villain.  Let's head off to the classroom now and see Jason's first round of students and what they're about.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Batman Beyond #35 Review

High Toned

Written By: Dan Jurgens
Art By: Rick Leonardi, Ande Parks, Chris Sotomayor, Travis Lanham
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

Thirty-five years from now, Terry McGinnis and the rest of the future Bat-Family are having themselves some trouble because not only are they dealing with a villain with super speed, who can split into two, but we also have the Beyond version of False Face, who can take over your life completely and leave you an amnesiac mess.  That's exactly what's happened to our hero and hopefully Bruce Wayne has something up his sleeve to not only take down the villain, but also save Terry.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Freedom Fighters #8 Review

Homeward Bound: An Awful Journey

Written By: Robert Venditti

Release Date: August 28, 2019

We're Earth-X bound as we go to check in on our Freedom Fighters team and find out how their assault against the Nazi menace is doing.  Hopefully, a little better than last issue because while they seemed to escaped the PlaSStic men, it seems that bubblegum bullies took Doll Woman and replaced her within our group of heroes with one of their own.  Yeah, that can't end well.  Let's jump into this issue and see if our Freedom Fighters can overcome or if they'll be rubbed out by the Ratzis.  Let's check it out.

Use The Force-d, Bendis

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis
Art By: Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Oclair Albert, Alex Sinclair, Wes Abbott
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

Maybe, just maybe this will be the issue of Superman where we finally learn something about Rogol Zaar or maybe he's just go away and never return....... which would also be acceptable at this point.  Either way, we had Superman and Jor-El go to the destroyed remnants of where Krypton used to be in the previous issue so let's jump into this one and see what Superman's pappy's plan is.  Let's check it out.

The Flash #77 Review and *SPOILERS*

Get the Band Back Together

Written By: Joshua Williamson
Art By: Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Tomeu Morey
Letters By: Steve Wands
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28, 2019

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Flash is in an interesting place. We just started this new storyline and the first issue of it was really great. That being said, the story seems like it is going to feature one of the worst parts of Williamson’s run, the new forces. Now, hopefully since we set them all up in the Force Quest storyline, we won’t have to deal with overly long introductions to each of these characters but it’s hard to tell. I’ve decided to stay positive about this storyline for now. After all, I was a huge fan of the previous issue and if this new issue continues to give us that quality of the story, then this will be a VERY enjoyable set of issues. Let’s just jump into this issue and see where it takes us.

Action Comics #1014 Review

A Five Pound Bag

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis
Art By: Szymon Kudranski, Brad Anderson, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 28. 2019

Get your journalistic hats on because we're heading to Metropolis, looking for a scoop...... or maybe we're just looking for a decent Superman story.  Either way, we're Metropolis bound and in our previous issue we saw Lex Luthor offer Red Cloud help with her powers, Rose & Thorn going after drug dealers in Suicide Slums and the Daily Planet doing Daily Planet things.  Yeah, there's a lot of things on the surface in this book, but somehow nothing ever seems to be happening.  Hopefully all that changes here so let's jump into this issue and check it out.

While I usually try to avoid anyone who is infected as a general rule, I was pretty excited to figure out the mystery of who the Batman Who Laughs got to.  The problem is, DC decided to ruin a big part of it by just announcing a bunch so they could solicit some future books.  Way to go!  I mean, now I'm stuck with the mystery of if I am as sick of the Batman Who Laughs as I think I am.  Well, let's see if I can crack this case...
