Batman #111 Review

Fear Factor

Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Jorge Jimenez, Tomeu Morey, Clayton Cowles, Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Romulo Fajardo Jr.
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: August 3, 2021

We are almost at Fear State and with that, James Tynion seems to have one last chance to get his pieces in position.  A lot of people have remarked that his Batman book has become a bit too crowded and I can't argue with them.  Sometimes I am not sure if Tynion is more concerned with character creation than story, but the guy picked up some hardware at the latest Eisners so who am I to criticize?  Actually, I guess that's what I am here for so let's get into the latest issue of Batman, shall we?

Crush & Lobo #3 Review

Like a Chump (Hey)

Writer: Mariko Tamaki
Artist: Amancay Nahuelpan, Tamra Bonvillain, Ariana Maher,
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 3, 2021

I would be lying if I told you that I have been enjoying this book.  I have not, but it's more for what we haven't gotten so far, and what I mean by that is a story!  Nothing much has happened so far and that's not good as we head into the third issue.  Thankfully, Crush reached the prison at the end of the last issue so we may actually get things rolling.  Let's find out...

Green Lantern #5 Review

Teen Angst

Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: August 3, 2021

Let's check out if that old Green Lantern's light is shining any brighter this issue after the Main Power Battery went up in smoke. I doubt it since in the previous issue, Teen Lantern, Keli Quintela went off half-cocked to New Korugar thinking that Sinestro and his Fear Lanterns were the ones responsible for taking the power out of our heroes' rings. Let's jump into this issue and see if Keli can hold her own or if she'll succumb to fear at the hands of Sinestro. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Justice League #66 Review

The Fight Continues...

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis, Ram V
Art By: Phil Hester, Eric Gapstur, Trish Mulvihill, Hi-Fi, Josh Reed, Sumit Kumar, Romulo Fajardo Jr., Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: August 3, 2021

It's time to jump back into some Justice League, where we'll undoubtedly have more Super Friends references while spotlighting Brian Michael Bendis' past characters and creations while leaving the majority of the Justice League sounding off and or looking like chumps. Previously, we saw Synmar take out the entire Justice League, while Black Canary and Green Arrow fought the out of nowhere brother of Lois Lane and a fake Deathstroke for some reason but now it's time for Naomi to continue to show off her power. Let's jump into this issue and see if things have gotten better both in situation and story from where we were previously and also see what the Justice League Dark backup gives us this issue. Let's check it out.

In our last issue of Suicide Squad we saw that Bloodsport has been traversing the Multiverse looking for new recruits for Amanda Waller and when he landed on Earth-3 and saw the evil version of Black Canary, Black Siren, he knew that she was perfect for Task Force X. It's just too bad that he got into a confrontation with Ultraman and decided to try some Kryptonite on him..... So yeah, we have a beefed-up Ultraman and our squad this issue is on their way to Earth-3 to try and collect one of theirs. Let's jump into this issue and see if the mission to Earth-3 is a suicide mission. Let's check it out.

Crime Syndicate #6 Review

They Will Be Watching

Written By: Andy Schmidt
Art By: Kieran McKowen, Dexter Vines, Steve Oliff, Rob Leigh, Bryan Hitch, Alex Sinclair
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 3, 2021

It's time for the finale of the Crime Syndicate book and with it, the last steps in forming the biggest, baddest team that Earth-3 has ever seen. Previously, we saw the Crime Syndicate attack Alexander Luthor's Watchtower, where he and the rest of this Legion of Justice fought against their foes but it looked like the good guys were down and out until Luthor pulled out his secret weapon. It turns out that a secret member of the Legion was actually Ultragirl, the long-lost cousin of Ultraman. Let's jump into this issue and see what kind of family reunion these two have. Let's check it out.
