Future State: The Next Batman #4 Review and *SPOILERS*

With a Whimper

Written By: John Ridley
Art By: Laura Braga, Arif Prianto
Letters By: Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $7.99
Release Date: February 16, 2021

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The Future State book for Batman has been pretty good so far. While simple the story has been very entertaining. The only thing holding this book back is the high price. Again, it is hard to recommend books like this when they cost so much. If it was a three or four-dollar book, then it would be an easy recommendation, but at eight dollars and with a bunch of other stories that may not interest the reader, it’s very difficult to give a full push to. Our current book is dealing with a lot of issues that are very interesting and this being the last book in this future state series, I am excited to see them capitalize on all of these ideas that they’ve been setting up for the past three issues. So let’s jump into this final issue and see where the story takes us.

Batman/Catwoman #3 Review and *SPOILERS*

Blood Runs Deep

Written By: Tom King
Art By: Clay Mann, Tomeu Morey
Letters By: Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: February 16, 2021

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The latest series from Tom King has started out actually fairly well. Granted, there are a ton of head-scratching moments. The story constantly switches between different periods of time but since they don’t give any indication as to when they change, you often have to figure it out several panels in. The story has straight up unwritten plot points of the previous issue and moved on like it never happened. However, despite all of these blatant mistakes that shouldn’t be getting approved, I actually am intrigued by this series. All the problems in this book do not dissuade me from wanting to learn more as the storylines are actually very interesting with some great dynamics between all of our characters. I just wish the details were a bit tighter. Anyway, lets jump into this new issue and see where this story takes us.

Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman #2 concludes this possible version of Diana's future with the end of all life, a visit from a "spectral" friend, and the beginning of Star Trek '66 (?).

It's over. I have nothing clever to say about this book. It's Future State.

It's the year 2030 and we're heading back to Warworld to see what not only Superman is up to, but also Shilo Norman, Midnighter, and the new Black Racer. Yeah, we have ourselves a thick book that's full of stories but let's find out if they feel like they're worth their price tag by the end because while I initially was really looking forward to this book when it was announced, after reading the last issue it didn't seem like we got enough of anything and I left that feeling disappointed, especially since we got about a page of actual Superman in the Superman story. Let's jump into this issue and see if we can get more this time around and if it comes off better. Let's check it out.

It's a daring escape. It's aspirational heroes at their best. It's Future State.
