Times are tough. My job is still considered essential so I'm out there every day risking that I bring this thing home to my family. My wife is at home losing her mind while the children create a Lord of the Flies society around her. Our realty company was so kind to inform us that they're now accepting credit cards "in these difficult times". So we can now just climb deeper into debt to remain not homeless, which is comforting.

Supergirl #40 Review and *SPOILERS*

Bad Hair Day

Written By: Jody Houser
Art By: Rachael Stott, Cris Peter
Letters By: Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: February 25, 2020

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Well, we have finally reached the end of Supergirl’s crossover and it could not have come soon enough. With no ability to actually provide a meaningful reveal to this story because the meat and potatoes of it has been happening in the Batman/Superman book, this book has stalled horribly. It has been littered with boring dialogue, random events in order to keep the story going, and just an all-around lackluster approach. I really cannot state enough how bad this has been for the Supergirl title which has already been bogged down by being dragged into every crossover event in the past year. Thankfully we will end this story and hopefully go forward into a proper story of our own. Before that though, we must wrap up this book but expect nothing to really be resolved by the end of it because our story must finish in another book, as per usual. Let’s jump into this latest issue and see where it takes us.

Detective Comics #1021 Review

Writer: Peter J. Tomasi
Pencils: Brad Walker
Inks: Andrew Hennessy
Colorist: Brad Anderson
Letters: Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 25, 2020

Tomasi is continuing his Detective Comics fascination with cults in this story arc, and this time it's Two-Face who now apparently has one of his own. Which is really weird, because Two-Face is more of a gangster with hired henchmen than a cult leader with obsessive followers. It's just completely out of character. But maybe that's the point.

Art By: Alvaro Martinez Bueno, Raul Fernandez, June Chung, Rob Leigh

Legion of Super-Heroes #5 Review

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Ryan Sook, Scott Godlewski, Wade Von Grawbadger, Jordie Bellaire and Dave Sharpe
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 25, 2020

If you are properly isolated in these pandemic times and miss the sublime sound of numerous troglodytes hovering around you uttering nonsense then this comic will make you feel much better. The number of legionnaires that grace each scene contributing nothing of substance toward plot or character growth is a genuine wonder to behold. How is this possible you ask? Let’s find out.

The Flash #752 Review and *SPOILERS*

Pie In The Sky

Written By: Joshua Williamson
Art By: Howard Porter, Hi-Fi
Letters By: Steve Wands
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 25, 2020

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The newest storyline in The Flash has had a very bumpy start. The series was hoping to bring on a lot more readers when the renumbering happened and so there has been a lot of “catching up” to do for those readers. This isn’t the worst thing in the world, after all, we all want our favorite books to be successful and gain new readers. If a recap every once and a while is all it takes to do that, I think most of us would be okay with that, or at least we would skip those issues and come back when new content is coming. However, in the midst of all this recap, we get a pretty by-the-numbers storyline with certain storylines being dropped, and a boring villain to top it all off. I’m not against trying to introduce a new villain but when that villain is a cookie-cutter version of most villains things tend to be boring. However, we got a nice cliffhanger in the previous issue so hopefully, we can turn things around in this one. Let’s jump in and see where it takes us.

Action Comics #1021 Review

Rinse and Repeat

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: John Romita and Klaus Janson
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 25, 2020

I have not been a fan of this book since Brian Michael Bendis took over, and while I was hoping The Truth might make it better, the tangled mess it has become makes it hard even to know what the hell is going on half the time.  We finally do catch up to the reveal this issue, but I still have trouble getting a straight timeline of events in my head, and even then, there isn't much of interest here anyway.  Do things change for the better this month?  Let's find out...

Batman/Superman #8 Review

Bottled Up Feelings

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Nick Derington

Release Date: March 25, 2020

I was so mad when Brian Michael Bendis destroyed the Bottled City of Kandor for a couple of cheap "For Kandor" moments I was all for Joshua Williamson bringing it back.  Yea, it's been a bumpy ride full of forced moments and yet another League, but the last issue's cliffhanger made me chuckle, even if it didn't mean too.  So, how is this month's issue?  Let's find out...
