Batman: Eternal #41 Review

Written by: Kyle Higgins
Art by: Joe Quinones
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2015

Don't Blink

This is the space where I usually tell you guys what I think of this book in general and fill you in on what happened last issue.  I won't bore you with all that nonsense this week.  The way Baternal has been, it's kind of hard to do anyway, what with the rotating creative teams and the plethora of story lines.  I will tell you this...Kyle Higgins is on this week and he has brought some fan favorite characters with him.  It's a really fun issue that is mainly setup, but readers of this weekly should be used to that.

Hey, Roy's Out of Bed!

Last issue of Arrow Season 2.5 we saw Sarah Lance go and collect Oliver before he could hurt anyone besides Diggle.  You see, Oliver was exposed to the prototype fear vertigo by the man that will one day claim the mantle of Count Vertigo for himself and for some reason he's hanging out underground with the new Brother Blood.  After forcing Oliver to take some time to rest, instead of going right after Brother Blood again, Sarah goes and visits her father in the hospital and what timing she has; finally Detective Lance has awoken from his coma.  Not everything last issue was good news though, since Oliver was asleep for the night Felicity decided to go home, it's too bad that Brother Blood and his goons were waiting for her.  Let's check out what this issue has in store for us.

Hindsight

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

It's funny to me calling this review "Hindsight" because of what the issue details but I realized right as I began writing this that it has a personal meaning too.  If I had only had the hindsight not to get all excited about this series when it came out, I could of saved myself a lot of pain from patiently waiting for it to get good.  As you should know if you're still reading this title, Red Tornado is detailing the story of Superman and Batman throughout the years leading up to their deaths, in case Earth 2 actually falls and hoping that someone will find her memory so they can know about the world's greatest superheroes.  Last issue's story was about Superman trying to stop a probe from coming to Earth while Batman chased after Catwoman............I think the Batman part was some sort of sex game.  Anyway the probe was from Apokolips and Superman and Batman had to take on the Apokoliptean: Intri as she tried again to get Superman to come over to her side.  This seems to be the main focus of this story arc.  Anyway, Superman and Batman sent her packing and we also had the first meeting of Superman and Wonder Woman (except for when Wonder Woman saved Clark as a child).  It's just a bunch of random things that happen throughout the lives of Batman and Superman, so let's check out this month's installment where we find out about Terry Sloan and his plans for Earth 2.

The fight you knew was coming since issue #12 – and you’ve been dreading since issue #23! Batman, Batman Beyond, Tim Drake, and...you know who!

The worst part about this solicit is it feels like they're flaunting the fact that they've been dangling this over our heads forever.  This series lately seems like it's just put on the brakes but hopefully this gigantic battle between all these different Batman will rejuvenate the readers and the series itself.  I know I'm looking forward to it........... I have to keep wiping the drool off my keyboard as I stare at this cover.

Batman and Robin #38 Preview

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 21, 2015

The team of Batman and Robin are together again! But what is the new dynamic for this crime fighting duo now that Damian has super powers of his own?

It is so weird to me to look at this cover and think of Damian Wayne as a superpowered dynamo.  Now I know that bringing Damian back somehow with the Chaos Shard is behind his new found powers, but with all the tests that Bruce will be running on him to see what's up, do you think that he'd ask Clark for a DNA test? .........or ask him to possible come on Maury with him?  That's what I want now.  This whole issue is Bruce, Clark and Damian on the Maury show and Maury telling Clark that the results are in, you are the father.  Okay now it's up to you people in interwebs land with talent to go out there and make that video happen for me.

The Amazo Virus infects the last Leaguer standing: Batman!

I'm not completely sold on the Amazo Virus story arc, but I did enjoy last issue and with this awesome cover of Batman sporting superpowers.......... Well that just sounds like fun.  With the juxtaposition of Batman and superpowers, especially with Damian now having them, I think it will be interesting to see how Batman deals with this development.................you know, before he burns up from them and all.  In Geoff Johns we trust and I can't wait to see what goes down.

The avatar of the Red of Earth 2 is released – and the battle turns for the heroes of Earth 2 as her power is used for both good and evil.

The Avatar of the Red is finally released from her enigmatic capture, but I don't know what good it will do in the Avatar's fight against the Furies of Apokolips.  I mean all the other Avatars have continuously gotten their asses kicked during this fight.  Is it one of those things like you have to complete the circle to imbue the full power of Earth?  For the most part this series has just been letting me down, but like a sucker I still get excited every time I open up a new issue.  Let's see if they break my heart again this week or if I'm pleasantly surprised.

Batman Vs. Robin Trailer

IGN went and got the exclusive for this trailer.......what do they have that we don't?  You know except for money, talent and experience........Nothing I tell you nothing.  Anyway, the Batman Vs. Robin trailer is out and for those of you who don't know this is pretty much a Court of the Owls movie and I couldn't be happier that DC is putting out stories from the New 52 and this one was at the top of my list.  This film is set to be released in the Spring of this year, so if you've forgotten what went down in the Court of the Owls story arc, you've got plenty of time to refresh yourself and get ready for what looks to be a very fun DC animated movie.  It's funny that this trailer dropped today because earlier I just put up my Top 5 DC Comic Story Arcs That Should Be Made Into Animated Movies, you can check that out HERE.  Not a bad week, we get this trailer and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis also dropped on digital download this week.  It's a good time to be a DC Comics fan.  Check out the trailer.

Klarion #4 Review

Written by: Ann Nocenti
Art by: Fabrizio Fiorentino and Syzmon Kudranski
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2014

Zell's Bells

Klarion has been canceled and while I don't have a direct line to the DC Bigwigs, my guess is there are two big reasons for the decision.  The main one is sales because it almost always is.  The initial numbers were pretty bad and they just keep going down. The second reason is the book is just bad.  I know certain people who are kind enough to visit our site and leave comments may (and will) disagree, but this book is a bloody mess.  It's pure Ann Nocenti which means confusing dialogue that often just reads like random words picked out of a hat and incomprehensible plot lines that go nowhere.  I usually have a good laugh when I read a Nocenti book, but Klarion doesn't even have that.  It does have really good art which is just wasted with everything else going on in this book.  This month continues the madness as Klarion rides the Devil's Car, hangs out in his pocket and we get more budybot action.

Top 5 Fridays: DC Comic Story Arcs That Should Be Made Into Animated Movies

Welcome back all you Weirdos, raise your hands if you've seen the new Justice League: Thone of Atlantis animated movie that dropped on digital download this week.......Okay put your hands down, I just realized what I asked.  The point is this new film has dropped and who doesn't love a good DC animated movie?  Now I haven't seen it yet because I'm a slacker but that doesn't mean everyone out there can't be watching this flick and spoiling the hell out of it for me.  While I can't say that I'm the biggest fan of the anime style that the newer New 52 animated movies have taken, I do love all the stories that have been told and it got me thinking about others that I'd like to see get made.  Really the rules of this list should have only New 52 stories listed because it seems that's the only ones that DC wants to produce and I'm not bitching here because I love them but I do want to list two that are from the old continuity just because I think they'd be awesome to see animated.  Enough jibber jabber, let's get to this week's Top 5 Fridays: DC Comic Story Arcs That Should Be Made Into Animated Movies.

New Suicide Squad #6 Review

Written by: Sean Ryan
Art by: Tom Derenick. Rob Hunter, Norm Rupmund and Vicente Cifuentes
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2014

The Reverse of Fun

The New Suicide Squad has been a guilty pleasure of mine.  I've enjoyed what Sean Ryan has done on this book and the introduction of the new team seemed like a ticket for even better times.  Unfortunately, that isn't the case this month.  Ryan and a team of artists continue the Squad's adventure in China, but it felt way too generic to get me excited. The whole thing devolved into a beat-em up with poor attempts at humor and characters who seem unfamiliar to each other as well as to readers who have been following them each month.  I'm not sure what happened, but I don't like it.

Batgirl #38 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher
Art By: Babs Tarr
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2015

Worst Superhero Ever

Last issue of Batgirl I found myself not completely hating what was given to me.  I don't know if it was the over the top story of a artist that yearned for Batgirl's spotlight and decided to take it upon himself to simply take it by becoming Batgirl but whatever it was, it was certainly the best of the new creative team's installments.  That doesn't mean that I'm behind this revamp though, no I still cringe every time I hear the name Batgirl of Burnside especially with the ending to last month's issue, where she decided to claim her identity and start posting selfies.........I might have just had an aneurysm writing that.........WHY WON"T MY EYE STOP TWITCHING?!  Hateful opinions aside, let's check out what this month's installment has in store for us.

Superman/Wonder Woman #15 Review

Written by: Peter J. Tomasi
Art by: Doug Mahnke and Ed Benes
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2014

God of Something

I'm a big fan of Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke and I love Superman/Wonder Women so you'd think when they took over this book from the departing Charles Soule and Tony S. Daniel, things would at least stay as good.  So far, that thinking is far from correct.  Because of my respect for Tomasi and Mahnke, I have given them the benefit of the doubt, but that ends here.  This issue continues the myriad of problems plaguing this book and even adds a few more to the checklist.  I'm still holding out hope that it's just a matter of a creative team finding their footing, but my doubts are getting stronger.  In fact, after this issue I'm straight up worried.

Batman: The Jiro Kuwata Batmanga #27 Review (Spoilers)

The Hangman of Terror - Chapter 4 of 4

I take back what I said the other day when I reviewed issue #26 of Batmanga: the party where Cathy attempts to kill herself by jumping off a bridge into the water wasn't intense at all when held up against the end of this issue.

Before I talk about the ending (there will be spoilers and it does get real) allow me to talk about the positives of this issue. When I saw that Batman would be going up against a professional wrestler I wasn't surprised, given the sports popularity in Japan. I was let down, however, as I read through the story and none of the battles between Batman and Hangman actually took place in a wrestling ring.

Constantine #21 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Ray Fawkes
Art By: Jeremy Haun
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2015

The Doctor Is In

Last month in Constantine, we saw our brash Brit show up at the front door of his doppelganger's house and just like in real life if you happened to come across a double of yourself, the Earth 2 John, tries to kill the impostor.  After the two are broken up and our John is mistaken for a "Wonder", the house is broken into by the insane people on the streets and our main character (can't say hero) leads his dead friends and family's doubles onto the street until eventually coming across an empty lot where John tells them he can take them all to another more peaceful world.  After the sigils are drawn, John tells his new band that magic like this tends to drawl other magic users and that they shouldn't trust them........... Enter Doctor Fate.  So the good Doctor is in and I can't wait to get into this story and see what happens when the Con Man and the Master of Fate come face to face.  Let's check it out.

Tom Hardy Drops Out of Suicide Squad

The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive that actor Tom Hardy has dropped out of villain filled Suicide Squad movie scheduled to be released August 5, 2016.  Apparently it's due to scheduling conflicts and not the dreaded "This script is horrible!", that I'm always worried about when I hear that people are bailing on a project.  Since the actor is out, apparently the person who has been offered to fill his role of Rick Flagg is the lead of that very disappointing film Nightcrawler, Jake Gyllenhaal ..........disappointing in the fact that I was really hoping for a "BAMF" but that's just me.  Now while I'm not really going to the theater to see Rick Flagg in this upcoming flick, I do have to say that Hardy fits the role a lot better than Bubble Boy in my opinion but I was also a naysayer to Heath Ledger playing the Joker, so it's possible I don't know shit.  Hopefully this isn't a precursor of things to come in the shooting of Suicide Squad.

Green Lantern Corps #38 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Van Jensen
Art By: Bernard Chang, Mirko Colak
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 15, 2015

Light The Dark

Now that GODHEAD is over and Hal Jordan has been put on leave back to Earth, it's time to see what the Guardians have in store for John Stewart........ Really though, I don't know why any of the Lanterns are taking orders from these Templar Guardians.  When they were first released from their prison they wanted nothing to do with leading the Green Lantern Corps and now it seems like they're calling all the shots and the Lanterns are falling back into old habits and just going along with it.  Didn't Kyle or Carol spill the beans that these little blue guys spent months lying to them and keeping secrets........like Kyle still being alive?  I just don't get what these Guardians are doing back with the Corps or why anyone is doing anything they say.  Okay, I think that's enough complaining, let's see what a post GODHEAD John Stewart is up to these days.

Grayson #6 Review

Written by: Tim Seeley and Tom King
Art by: Mikel Janin
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2014

Living After Midnighter

I love this book.  That may sound a little too simplistic for all you fancy, cigar smoking, over sized bow tie wearing big shots, but it's the honest truth.  In fact, it made me realize something about myself.  Before this book I considered myself a huge Nightwing fan when in fact, I am just a good old Dick Grayson fan.  That's right, I love Dick.

Batman: The Jiro Kuwata Batmanga #26 Review (Spoilers)

Cover Price: $1.99
Release Date: December 27, 2014

The Hangman of Terror - Chapter 3 of 4

This issue of Batman: The Jiro Kuwata Batmanga really left me with a lot to think about when all was said and done. First and foremost, despite what I said last time, this is not the finale of the story. There must be a glitch in the ComiXology system that is pushing the descriptions back one issue.

Secondly, this book was presumably written for kids in 1960's Japan when the Batman craze was at it's highest, due to the Adam West TV series. Keeping that in mind, the scene where the mystery girl from previous issues (named Cathy) attempts to kill herself by jumping off a bridge into a large body of water was quite intense.

No Montage?

Last week in Earth 2: World's End, we saw the death of Commander Khan as he tried to drive a bomb up Darkseid's ass but instead he found the traffic there jammed up by omega beams...........  Darkseid killed him if you don't get my gist.  In the Clone Labyrinth of Desaad our Superman/Batman heroes fought off the clones of the Avatar of the Red while the heroes tried to free the Avatar from it's restraints.........Oh and for some reason injecting Superman's blood that's poison to the clones into your neck will work like PCP.......I don't know ask Batman, he did it.  In Chicago, Dick Grayson got a lesson in fighting from Ted Grant before he found out that the train he put his son on derailed and Flash and Hawkgirl went to find out if Famine was still alive to try and get some offensive intel about the rest of the Furies.  Oh, and with their ship destroyed by Commander Khan driving it at Darkseid, Mister Terrific, Fury, Mister Miracle and Sandman said fuck it and detonated the nukes they placed on Apokolips but don't worry folks they used those light discs that the New God's fly on to somehow make a shield around them....... Oh yeah, some definite Weird Science going on there.  Let's see if any of this does any good in this week's issue.  Let's check it out.

The Flash: Season Zero #9 Review (Spoilers)

Release Date: December 29, 2014

Smoak Signals (Part 1 of 2)

After facing off against Nathan Bliss and his horrifying circus goons, the Scarlet Speedster is back in another adventure. This time we aren't looking at a eight part story, but rather a nice easy two-parter, co-starring Felicity Smoak, who you may recognize from Arrow.

As the story opens, Flash is locked in a brutal battle with Hydro Hunter and Channel 52 news is on the scene. Back at her office, Felicity Smoak is watching the battle on her tablet, worried that her employer Ray Palmer may catch on to what's going on.

This issue was a little tough for me to follow because--brace yourself--I'm not caught up on Arrow or Flash. That being said I plan to rectify that soon.

Murdering Fifty Sue

Welcome back to the future!  Okay, enough of that.  For this week's quick recap the things that you'll need to know going into this book are that Frankenstein is on the verge of death now that he's a mortal thanks to his Nth Metal arm and Amethyst tries to save his life by taking him to the Justice League Dark but after they tell her they can't help Frank, Constantine comes in to poke fun. It seems that Amethyst has had enough of Constantine and runs her sword through him.  In Las Vegas King Faraday and his group were trying to figure out how to get a DNA vault that fell in the ocean at Cadmus Island back and Fifty Sue simply willed it to be there to be helpful and not helpful.......They were on top of a very tall building and this vault is as big as a house.  Up at the Justice League's headquarters Firestorm showed up looking for help with her "I can't stop being Firestorm" problem after her big fight with the new Dr. Polaris and finally Terry McGinnis lost his virginity to Plastique while the two waited for Tim Drake to come back home.  I understand that losing your virginity is a important thing but maybe they could have waited to get naked until after the giant Batman/Joker monster from the future wasn't trying to kill them...........Maybe that's just me.  Let's see what this week's foray into the future holds for us.

Art By: Brian Buccellato, Francis Manapul
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 7, 2015

Wearing Masks

Last issue of Detective Comics we had a lot of things going down.  After Batman took down the Mad Hatter before he could go on one of his Wonderland murder sprees, the Dark Knight found the skulls of six children cast aside in the ice.  That wasn't the only death going on in last issue, remember Jeb Lester from the Icarus story arc?  Well he won't be dealing in anymore trafficking of people because we saw him thrown out a window of Wayne Enterprises by a mysterious figure but it would soon look like the perpetrator was actually Anarky because when Bullock went to investigate, they found a bomb waiting for them and at the end of the issue we saw the front of Wayne Enterprises explode into a giant A...........for Anarky...............I think it was for Anarky.  Maybe Aleve is upping their promotions game and Jeopardy isn't cutting it anymore.  Well that's where we left off, let's check out what this issue of Detective Comics has in store for us this month.

Swamp Thing #38 Review and *SPOILERS*

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 7, 2015

Avatar Three Way!

Last issue of Swamp Thing we saw the Avatar of the Green getting ready for war......... Well we saw him doing some Swamp Fu on some apples but training was being done nonetheless.  It's a good thing too because the Machines found their Avatar in Lady Weeds and after machining her up, she went straight on the offensive against the Green by making pals with Miki the Avatar of the Grey and Arcane the former Avatar of the Rot.  If you think that's a fucked team well dig this, Arcane isn't joining alone.  No, he's packing the stolen bones of Alec Holland and the Machine Queen seems to have a plan on how to use them.  Let's check out how Swamp Thing will deal with this evil menage a trois.

Injustice: Year Three #16 Review

Written by: Brian Buccellato
Art by:Sergio Davila
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: January 13, 2015

Knock, Knock

Brian Buccellato jumped onto the Injustice story last week and while I enjoyed it, it left me wanting more.  It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, just a bit too vanilla for fans of a balls-to-the-wall, guess who's going to die next book like Injustice.  I guess I should give him a little breathing room to get his footing, but we are in the middle of Year Three and it really felt like a new Year was beginning. However, when you see the final page of this issue you'll realize that the book is in good hands and the dynamite is about to go boom.

Constantine #21 Preview

Written By: Ray Fawkes
Art By: Jeremy Haun
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2015

With legions of Parademons on the attack, Constantine forges an alliance with Doctor Fate. But as time begins to run out, will they escape Earth-2 – or help destroy it?

While I'm getting a bit burnt out by Earth 2 and it's many tie-ins, I do have to say that I've been digging the hell out of this series since it's relocation.  Ray Fawkes seems to have jumped up a level when dealing with stories featuring our brash Brit and the tone has become just the right amount of dark that we feel the isolation and depression that our hero is facing.  Now add Jeremy Haun's art and Doctor Fate to that and I'm the happiest son of a bitch sporting a headband that you've ever seen.  It's a good time to be a Constantine fan.............Even if Constantine needs to trim his sideburns.

Grayson #6 Preview

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 14, 2015

It's the battle you never thought you'd see, as Grayson goes toe to toe with the Midnighter!

I am finally ready to admit that this is my favoirite book.  I know there are a bunch of fellow Nightwing fanatics out there that will want to string me up and leave me for dead, but the heart loves what the heart loves.  Tim Seeley and Tom King have really been making this book a joy to read, but Mikel Janin's art is the main draw for me each month.  Just look at this preview and you will easily see why.

Green Arrow #38 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Andrew Kreisberg, Ben Sokolowski
Art By: Daniel Sampere, Jonathon Glapion
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 7, 2015

Emerald Knights

Last issue of Green Arrow we saw our Emerald Archer take on the dark archer Merlyn and man did he not have a good time there.  Green Arrow got his ass handed to him pretty bad before Merlyn recognized him giving us the impression that this is Tommy Merlyn and man is that a crazy callback to Green Arrow #0.  So Merlyn disappears and we find out that Mia Dearden is actually the daughter of the villainous John King and the reason he wants to get his hands on her besides the expected loving parent thing is because after Mia witnessed him kill her mother she downloaded all his secret stuff on a thumb drive and he doesn't want her doing anything stupid like leaking his secret stuff to the world.  So after Oliver has his girlfriend/assistant Zehra look after Mia, Oliver, Diggle and Felicity go aboard John King's blimp for a fundraiser where we learn that he knows who Oliver is and we learn that everyone works for John King when all the blimp aficionados stop what they're doing and throw our heroes off the side.  Don't worry about them though, they were saved by the Green Lantern.  The person you should be worried about is Zehra and Mia because John King's people found them and he doesn't seem like the understanding type.  Let's check out what this issue of Green Arrow has in store for us this month.

The Hangman of Terror - Chapter 2 of 4

Well that escalated quickly! Last issue we saw the Hangman, a professional wrestler, stop a jewelry thief dressed as...the Hangman! This week we know exactly who the impostor was and  the plot thickens. I often pride myself on being  able to watch a movie or read a story and generally have some idea where the tale will go. With this issue I am completely stumped. There are too many wild card factors.

The penultimate chapter of “The Infinitus Saga” is here as the fate of the future is decided in a battle between Justice League United and the Legion of Super-Heroes!

Wow, it seems like forever since I've read an issue of JLU and I don't know if it was just because of the holidays or if I have a terrible memory but I'm going to be happy to read this and the next chapter of this series because I want to see what this team does once all this Infinitus and time travel stuff is finished.  It's not that I'm not enjoying this story arc, it just seems to be a little much and while I want to know the ending, I'm more looking forward to what comes after.  All complaining aside though, look at Hawkman in his space suit on that cover with the space battle going on around him..............Just bad ass.  It's one of those covers that you'd want a print of it hanging on your wall.

Terrible times are coming for Earth-2: A refugee from Apokolips brings warnings of doom, an impatient emissary is determined to bring Superman back for her master, and Batman wonders if Terry Sloan plans to betray the world. The secret history of Superman and Batman moves toward its awful climax!

While I'm really just waiting for this series to end, I do have to say that this solicit does interest me a little........Well the part about Batman and Terry Sloan interests me.  I really want to see all of the world's "Wonders" together before the Apokolips invasion and hopefully find out about the one "Wonder" that we were told way way back was there but who we never got a name or any kind of information about.  It's just one of the many loose threads I hope gets tied up and it could really be a way to give this title a redeeming quality ...........probably not but I still want to see that character and this title seems like the best place for it to happen.

The War changed everyone, and not for the better. After last issue’s shocking ending made one hero a murderer, find out how far Constantine went to win, and how Amethyst lost her magic! Don’t miss the return to Gemworld!

Now maybe I'm just a naysaying Negative Nancy but how Amethyst got so ugly and how Constantine screwed her over leading to the destruction of Gemworld isn't something that I personally can get really excited about.  Also they call Amethyst skewering Constantine a shocking ending but it wasn't the ending and we also saw that Constantine was fine later in the issue and used some sort of magic to make it look like he was there to get skewered.............So no shock.  I wasn't really a fan of the stories we were given last week so I really hope that we're given something here that I can have one of those awesome "Holy Shit" moments.  Always looking for those "Holy Shit" moments.

We're back in Earth 2 and hopefully after last issue the creators have got back in the saddle because "yeesh" was last issue a stinker.  The Superman/Batman heroes began fighting the Avatar of the Red: Yolanda Montez just because Desaad out of nowhere had control of her.  Dick Grayson wasn't doing much better as we saw him give up on life and welcome an oncoming Tsunami.  It's a good thing that Ted Grant came back into the story to knock him the hell out and outrun the Tsunami...........Yeah, I'm still not happy that he was able to do that but it's a new issue and we'll look to the future. The Avatars had their hands full with their battle against the Furies of Apokolips when the new Fury: Huntress joined the battle and quickly killed the Avatar of the Blue and almost killed Sam Zhou: The Avatar for the White and finally on the World Army front, Major Sato led the civilian survivors into the old Project Beyond bunker to keep them safe and had the Atom sacrifice himself to make more room below them.  So yeah, the Atom is just dead now and we left last issue with Commander Khan kicking Terry Sloan's betraying ass out of his spaceship when he activated a self destruct program and then piloting it towards Darkseid's citadel on a suicide mission.  So the Atom's dead and it looks like Commander Khan will be joining him soon.  Let's find out in this week's issue of Earth 2: World's End.

Klarion #4 Preview

Written by: Ann Nocenti
Art by: Fabrizio Fiorentino, Szymon Kudranski
Cover Price: $2.99

Release Date: January 14, 2015

Klarion does a very, very bad thing. Just how evil is Klarion, and how much damage will he do? Find out in “The Swarm Abides,” when Klarion drives the devil’s car and falls into a hell of his own making.

What can I say about Klarion that the ten people reading it haven't already said?  It's a hilarious mess that only Ann Nocenti can create. I'm sure we will get some gems of dialogue that will make me laugh out loud while I shake my head.  One can only hope.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Review with *Spoilers*

Changed everything...in a Flash!

At the end of the month, another of DC's Animated Original Movies will be released to the public. This time based on another New 52 story, The Throne of Atlantis, written by Geoff Johns. As we approach this date, I decided it's best to look back on the other 2 films based in The New 52. The first one might be a bit iffy in it, but I consider it apart of the New 52 as it did birth it. This film of course is Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, based on the crossover story arc Flashpoint that gave birth to the New 52 world we know today. To those who read the crossover, one of the things it could be described as is huge. Many different miniseries to ride along with this event that help flesh out this dark world, from Project Superman to the origins of 2 of the 3 antagonists, Emperor Aquaman(Which still sounds BADASS) and Wonder Woman. Along with that, Flashpoint tied in the history between Flash and Prof. Zoom. The near endless conflict between the two speedsters have come to the CW in the new series, so most know what I mean. The issue with that is that the Animated Movies can only be, at the longest, 80 to 90 minutes. So the question is how much stuff did they have to cut to make it that length? Answer: Most of the Mini-Series stuff, and unfortunately some of the history between Flash and Zoom. Despite these cuts, does this make it a bad adaption? Let's find out!

Aquaman and the Others #9 Review

Written by: Dan Jurgens
Art by: Lan Medina
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 7, 2015

Will the Real POW Please Stand Up

Aquaman and the Others has been a mess of a book and that and the poor sales has lead it to be canceled in March.  That leaves three issues left for me to read and review and that's three too many.  I try to go into my reviews as unbiased as I can, but I can't seem to lift the dread I get each time I have to review this book.  Last month ended with a ghost from Prisoner of Wars past emerging to exact vengeance on his killer, The Operative.  Any chance of excitement was killed by the heavy handed dialogue and the lack of connection I have with any of these characters.  Unfortunately, I feel the same way about this issue.

Batman: Eternal #40 Review

Written by: Ray Fawkes
Art by: Davide Furno and Paolo Armitano
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 7, 2015

Lock, Stock and about a Thousand Smoking Barrels

Last week's Eternal ended with Batman and the Riddler caught in an avalanche, a slew of Gotham's Most Wanted (and even some Least Respected) getting some hands on time with Batman's best gadgets and weapons and Vicki Vale staring down the barrel of a gun.  I enjoyed the issue as a fun little diversion and thought that Ray Fawkes nailed the Riddler as an outsider pissed off at Batman's fall from grace and inability to figure things out.  This week continues with more of the same, which is a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it.
