Greatest Hits

Art By: Howard Porter, Hi-Fi
Letters By: Steve Wands
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 12, 2019

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

I was really excited when I saw that we were going to be getting a Year One Flash story because in my experience, Year One stories have at the very least been interesting. However, ever since we started this storyline, it has been one disappointment after another. This book has so much wasted potential after giving an entire issue to Barry’s origin story and then giving an issue to him talking with his future self. The issue I have with this book is that I was actually looking forward to seeing what kind of story we were going to get with Future Barry but that ended just as soon as it began and now we are back in the present. It kind of just feels like we wasted a lot of time to get where we are. However, hopefully this new issue will change things around. Let’s jump into it and see where it takes us.

Supergirl #31 Review and *SPOILERS*

Playing Catch Up

Written By: Marc Andreyko
Art By: Kevin Maguire, Eduardo Pansica, Sean Parsons, Eber Ferreira, FCO Plascencia
Letters By: Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 12, 2019

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

I have been singing Supergril’s praises since Marc Andreyko took over the book and while the book hasn’t always been the best, it has been pretty good since Andreyko took over the book. Unfortunately, Andreyko’s run became incredibly rushed in the past few issues due to a crossover that is happening with the Superman book. However, let’s not rush to conclusions about this upcoming story just yet. While it may have interrupted the story we had previously (which I was thoroughly enjoying) it doesn’t mean that we won’t enjoy the new story. So before we render judgement on this book, let’s jump into this new issue and see where it takes us.

I have been up and down with this series, but the recent turn to more of a "caper of the month" month feel with the regular story, the Annual and the V Ram one-shot had picked up the pace a bit.  We continue with Jones' main story and this one is more of a reveal issue than anything else.  What do I mean and is it any good?  Let's find out...

Sometimes You Just Want Some Protein Sludge

Written By: Robert Venditti
Art By: Will Conrad, Jeremiah Skipper, Starkings & Comicraft
Cover Price: $3.99

Okay, we've seen Carter Hall stop the Deathbringers and recover his memory so now it's time to get to some proper Hawkman action, where we can hopefully see the character become a full member of the DCU........ and I mean "full member" in that I want him to interact with other heroes and events going on right now.  Sadly though, I won't be getting what I want right away because with this issue we start seeing some of Carter's past incarnations and what they faced throughout time and space.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis
Art By: Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Oclair Albert, Alex Sinclair, Josh Reed

Let's head off back to space, where we left our Super-Family, not only fighting Rogol Zaar, General Zod and Jax-Ur, but three warships from three different alien species, the Khunds, the Trillium Collective and the Thanagarians...... Pretty much, our heroes were in a bit over their heads.  Thankfully though, we had Supergirl show up at the end of last issue to try and even the playing field, but even with our Girl of Steel, our heroes are going to need a lot of help in taking on all of these opponents.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Batman and the Outsiders #2 Review

Helping Hand

Written by: Bryan Hill
Art by: Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, and Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 12, 2019

I don't care what anybody says (especially a certain writer with a chip on his shoulder and an "only me" attitude), I really enjoyed the first issue of this series.  I think that Bryan Hill has a feel for these characters and without any hype, this book is one of the most diverse in comics and especially at DC.  The best thing about it is, that's not the focus of it...it just is.  After the delayed start to the series, I was worried a bit going in, but Hill and Dexter Soy hit the ground running and gave me a new favorite to add to my (dwindling) pull list.  So, is this second issue just as good?  Let's find out...
