Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22nd, 2020

We're going over the hump in this 7 part series with issue #4, and going in there's only one head in the basket so far. In the last issue, after leaving the house to go find help, June and Puzo (the head) come across Mr. Hamilton drinking and driving in the rain. June hides the basket with Puzo’s head in the bed of the truck and they start driving to the police station. When the road is blocked by a tree and they go to move it, June finds the pruners that were used to cut off her boyfriend Liam's finger and Hamilton finds Puzo's head in the basket in the bed of his truck. So he attacks her, and the issue ended with June falling unconscious after giving him a good fight. To read all of my reviews of this series, use the "Basketful of Heads" label.

DC Black Label
Release Date: January 22, 2020

Curse of the White Knight thus far has been a decent follow up to the original White Knight series mostly picking up where the first one left off. We've bounced back and forth from the past to the present, to see how it all ties into Batman's current day predicament, with it all coming to a head this issue.  So with all that said let's discuss where that gets us as we near the conclusion of this series.

Batman/Superman #6 Review

What's the Plan?

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: David Marquez, Alejandro Sanchez, and John J. Hill
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

While I started a little down on this series and wished big things were explained better, I have been looking forward to seeing what the book becomes now that the Infected story has shifted off to Hell Arisen.  Sure, I know it's not gone totally, but I am hoping we get an idea of where Williamson will take this book once it is.  Do we get that this issue?  Let's find out...

Batman Beyond #40 Review

Batwoman Revealed!

Written By: Dan Jurgens
Art By: Sean Chen, Sean Parsons, Chris Sotomayor, Wes Abbott
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

Thirty-Five years from now, Derek Powers or Blight as he likes to go by now has returned to Neo Gotham, where he keeps telling people that radiation doesn't die.... even though he needs a new body because he's dying, but beyond that we have a new Batwoman in town to go after the big ugly, it's just too bad that his new body he's hoping to get is an amnesia ridden Terry McGinnis, who's also on the run from the police for murder.  Yeah, it's crazy in the future and hopefully Batwoman and the rest of the Bat Family can get together to save the day because right now it seems like everyone is just running around and not exactly focused on what they should be focused on.  Let's jump into this issue and see if the mystery of the Batwoman is solved and if she can take down Blight.

Red Hood: Outlaw #42 Review

Feelings

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Paolo Pantalena, Arif Prianto, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

Artemis and Bizarro have made it back from their dimensional jaunt and it looks like we're moving Generation Outlaw to Ma Gunn's Home For Wayward Boys so really..... it kind of feels like a brand new ballgame..... just a brand new ballgame with some weird ass kids that I'm not completely sold on yet.  There's a lot for Jason and his friends to discuss now that they're back and the one thing that I need more than anything (which we won't get here) is how no one is batting an eye at Pup-Pup being a real boy..... stuffed animal thing.  Let's jump into this issue and see how things work with the majority of the Outlaws back in the saddle.  Let's check it out.

Metal Men #4 Review

Robo Con 2020!

Written By: Dan Didio
Art By: Shane Davis, Jason Wright, Travis Lanham
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

Time to head back to Mount Magnus so that we can catch up on the wacky adventures of the Metal Men and find out what the secret of the strange Nth Metal Man is.  In our previous issue we saw a Devil Ray from the Dark Multiverse attack our heroes, like in their first appearance, but where it originally took the combined might of our team to take this monster down, this time it only took the Nth Metal Man and if that wasn't enough to make you weary of this being, by the end of the issue we saw Gold back from the dead and sporting a new look....... Yeah, that no-good Nth Metal Man has to be behind this..... or someone else seemingly as ominous.  Let's jump into this issue and see what the Metal Men have for us this month.

Shazam! #10 Review

The Calm Before The Storm

Written By: Geoff Johns
Art By: Dale Eaglesham, Scott Kolins, Michael Atiyeh, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

After all the delays to this title it finally feels like it's finally getting back on track and with that we can move past the majority of the Magiclands...... at least for now so that we can deal with the seventh and final land that we haven't explored yet..... The Monsterlands.  That's right, with our Shazam Family kept occupied, Mr. Mind and Dr. Sivana have access to the Rock of Eternity and the locked door to the Monsterlands.  Hopefully now that Billy's father CC is the seventh champion, they'll have enough strength to take on the Monster Society of Evil when Mr. Mind breaks them out of their prison.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Bad Brains

Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Steve Epting, Javier Fernandez, Nick Filardi, and Travis Lanham
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

This is the big thing going right now and while I wanted a little bit more from the opening issue, I have been waiting for this issue since the last one ended.  I am all about being #TeamLex and hope this one gets the baled headed bad guy on top or at least equal to the Batman Who Laughs.  Well, does it?  Let's find out...

Superman #19 Review

The Truth!...... And Other Stuff

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis
Art By: Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Danny Miki, Julio Ferreira, Oclair Albert, Alex Sinclair, Andworld Design
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

It's time to see the ramifications of Superman telling everyone his secret identity and if it's anything like when this happened a couple of years ago...... it's not going to go over so well.  I don't expect a rehash of that though because what would be the point, but I am curious to see how Brian Michael Bendis plays with Lex Luthor when he finally confronts the Man of Steel about this revelation and I'm curious to see how much of a target our hero has now put on the backs of his friends and family.  Let's jump into this issue and see what's what.

Wonder Woman #750 Review

Artist: Elena Casagrande, Colleen Doran, Jesus Merino, Gabriel Picolo, others
Cover Price: $9.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

I love Wonder Woman and the state of her current, and recent runs makes me sad, so while I think it's a bit of nonsense to make a big deal at #750, I hope this inspires the writers and the powers than be to start making sure Wonder Woman starts kicking ass right here and right now.  At the risk of sounding more like Jesus Jones, let's get on with the review...

Batman #87 Review and *SPOILERS*

Crazy Old Bird

Written By: James Tynion IV
Art By: Guillem March, Tomeu Morey
Letters By: Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: January 22, 2020

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Tynion’s run began last issue and the fandom breathed a collective sigh of relief. It was good! Hell, it was great! Tynion really knows these characters well and he knows how to use them in clever ways. The previous issue did so much right especially when it came to dealing with the aftermath of events in King’s run. In addition, his first issue gave the audience something a little more traditional. This was something that fans have been begging for after having King’s unorthodox style for so long. I’m not saying one is bad and the other is good but too much of one will make you yearn for the other. Last issue set us up with some amazing pieces for the future of this book so let’s jump into the latest issue and see where it takes us.
