Batgirl #50 Review

Writer: Cecil Castellucci
Artist: Aneke, Emanuela Lupacchino, Marguerite Sauvage
Cover Price: $5.99
Release Date: October 28, 2020

Batgirl is ending with this issue, and while the overall series hasn't always been the best, I am a Batgirl fan and liked a lot of it.  However, I was not too fond of Cecil Castellucci's run at all.  While the book wasn't selling well when she jumped on, the sales numbers and storytelling quality took a nosedive as we dealt with android Oracle, Unearth, Living Metal, and more (or less?)  So, here we go with a finale that pushes Batgirl into today's headlines and more (or less?!?!)

Batman/Superman #13 Review

The Kill-Bot Factory

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Max Raynor, Alejandro Sanchez, and John J. Hill
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 28, 2020

I liked the setup to this new arc of Batman/Superman. Our heroes fighting off Brainiac versions of their villains on the Dark Side of the Moon? That's the fun I want from this book, and adding Batwoman and Steel to the mix is even better. Let's see if it all pays off in Part of Two of Planet Brainiac!

Legion of Super-Heroes #10 Review

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Ryan Sook
Publisher: DC Comics
Release Date: October 28, 2020
Cover Price: $3.99

Review By: Comic Boom Rocky! Check out his awesome Youtube Channel HERE

It’s time to review another issue of Legion of Superheroes! I apologize to readers of this Weird Science DC site for neglecting to review issue 9 of this series. If this were the 31st Century I would issue a worldwide “apolomemex” which, I suspect, would have about as much impact as Karate Kid’s ‘apology’ in the opening recap page of issue 10 in which he gossips about the “coupling” of Superboy and Saturn Girl. Is this series finally showing signs of going somewhere, or will I look back in hindsight and wish I had skipped reviewing this issue too?  Let’s find out.

Detective Comics #1029 Review

Writer: Peter J. Tomasi
Art: Kenneth Rocafort
Colors: Daniel Brown
Letters: Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 27th, 2020

The Mirror is here and I can't be the only one who thinks he looks like a rip-off of Looking Glass from the Watchmen HBO series, right? If only he was as cool as Looking Glass, too. The Mirror isn't in it for too long though, just enough for you to get what his whole shtick is.

The Flash #764 Review and *SPOILERS*

Ring This, Ring That

Written By: Kevin Shinick
Art By: Will Conrad, Hi-Fi
Letters By: Steve Wands
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 27, 2020

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The Flash has begun anew with a brand new creative team and we have just begun to dip our toes into the stories that this writer wants to write, and the art that this artist will bring to The Flash. Last issue, we enjoyed a little old school fun with a silly and lighthearted superhero romp that ended with Flash getting back what was stolen from him, and defeating Trickster before he could cause even more trouble. It certainly wasn’t a book that was swinging for the fences, but I’ll never be upset with an infield single. It was fun and that’s one of the main things that I’m looking for in a title. If a title can make me smile, it was worth putting my time into it. Now we are moving forward with this book and we teased a return of Dr. Alchemy. I’ve got a good feeling about this one so let’s jump into this new issue and see where it takes us.

Wonder Woman #765 Review

Making Me Dizzy

Writer: Mariko Tamaki
Artist: Steve Pugh, Rumulo Fajardo Jr, and Pat Brosseau
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 28, 2020

Mariko Tamaki continues her Wonder Woman run with another issue about Maxwell Lord's tech gone bad. After the extended Liar Liar story, I hoped we could move away from this a bit, but that hasn't been the case. I guess it's the only way to keep Maxwell and Diana working together, but it's turned into a silly scavenger hunt. I was expecting a bigger story when Tamaki jumped on Wonder Woman, but I realize that is not happening here, and that realization may have improved my attitude and score this week. Why is that? Let's find out...

Red Hood: Outlaw #50 Review

Adios Outlaws

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Paolo Pantalena, Arif Prianto, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $5.99
Release Date: October 27, 2020

It's an end of an era, where Scott Lobdell walks away from the character that he's pretty much defined for the better part of this decade. With that in mind, he has a lot of things to wrap up and clean up for our next creative team jumping on this book when it drops the "Outlaw" title and just becomes "Red Hood". Bizarro's already out of the way, now that he's the King of Trigon's hell dimension so that just leaves us with Artemis, Pup-Pup, Generation Outlaw and whatever became of Joker's Daughter. Let's jump into this issue and see if we can put all these toys nicely away in the toybox for whoever wants to play with them next or if they're thrown across the room and broken. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Batman Beyond #48 Review

Gotta Get Back In Time

Written By: Dan Jurgens
Art By: Paul Pelletier, Norm Rapmund, Chris Sotomayer, Travis Lanham
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 27, 2020

It's time to get back to the future, but in a strange twist of events, we'll be making a turn and heading back to the present day this issue with Booster Gold making an appearance this arc to join in on some Batman Beyond fun. Let's jump into this issue and see how Booster Gold going back in time in a Batman book is done right..... you know since we actually have a writer here who knows something about the character. Let's check it out.

Justice League Dark #27 Review

Magic Missile!

Written By: Ram V
Art By: Amancay Nahuelpan, June Chung, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October, 27, 2020

The final battle between our JLD team and the Upside Down Man wages on and in our previous issue we learned that the magic of our heroes is juiced up in the dimension that spawned it and not only that, but the belief that their magic is stronger is also juicing it up. So there we go, we're in a battle where our heroes have never been stronger, it's just too bad that Constantine seemed to have gone down in the end. Let's jump into this issue and see if magic can continue to build up and overcome a foe who has constantly kicked our heroes' asses throughout this run. Let's check it out.

Batman: Three Jokers #3 Review

Back To One Bad Day

Written By: Geoff Johns
Art By: Jason Fabok, Brad Anderson, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $6.99
Release Date: October 27, 2020

It's the finale to the story that we waited for years to see. Was it worth the wait in the end?...... Well, I guess we'll find out from this issue, but before we get to that, let's talk about the journey so far. The Joker plans on making new Jokers, but beyond the three we're dealing with, none have been able to survive or gain any kind of semblance of sanity from their dips in the chemical baths that create our Clown Prince of Crime. There is one more option though, the perfect man to make the perfect Joker. The man who created Batman so many cold nights ago....... Joe Chill. Let's jump into this issue and see if the remaining two Jokers succeed in their plan or if Batman, Batgirl, and Red Hood can shut the Jokers down and hopefully find a way to move past the trauma that these madmen have shot into their lives. Let's check it out.

Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 28, 2020

It's part five of the House of Kent story, and December can't come quick enough.  I was never a massive fan of Bendis' Superman stuff, but at least he seemed to be trying when he first arrived at DC and grabbed both Superman and Action Comics for his own.  So, how is this latest issue of Action?  Let's get into it...
