Deathstroke Inc. #7 Review

Father of Mine

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Stephen Segovia
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 22, 2022

I have done a complete 180 with this book since it started.  I did not enjoy the start of this series, but it took a handful of issues to understand why it existed.  Since then, though, things have gotten progressively better, and now that we have a proper "Deathstroke Inc." going on with Slade commanding a new Secret Society, I am so in!  This book is the main reason I am looking forward to the upcoming Shadow War crossover, and I hope this issue raises that interest big time.  Well, does it?  Let's find out...

Mariko Tamaki wraps up her weekly Detective Comics event this week with Detective Comics #1058, and it's been a roller coaster ride of emotions.  Unfortunately, one of those emotions has been confusion over whether there was enough story here for twelve issues.  So let's see if this finale makes it all worthwhile.

Aquamen #2 Review

Writer: Brandon Thomas, Chuck Brown
Artist: Sami Basri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 22, 2022

I was not a fan of either Aquaman: The Becoming or Black Manta, so I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the first issue of Aquamen.  Maybe it was seeing Arthur back, but I also enjoyed the intelligent depiction of Black Manta and was intrigued by the overall mystery going on in the book.  So, I was pumped to see if my enjoyment continued going into this issue.  Let's find out if that was the case...

It's Not Easy Being... Dino

Writer: Brandon Thomas
Artist: Ronan Cliquet
Publisher: DC Comics
Release Date: March 23, 2022

I don't know if I have been confused about why a book exists more than this book ever.  It is such a mix-and-match bunch of ideas thrown together haphazardly that it would be a shock if it did make sense.  So, let's see if the penultimate issue clears anything up or is just par for the course.

The Coldness of Our Discontent

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Leomacs, Matheus Lopes, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Cover Price: $6.99
Release Date: March 23, 2022

Here at Weird Science, we don't deal a lot with the Black Label stuff.  However, I am a fan of the Rogues, and since we haven't gotten a ton of them in the regular books recently, I decided to at least read Rogues #1 by Joshua Williamson, and if I liked it, even review it.  I guess that's a bit of a spoiler, but here we go with the review...

Teen Titans Academy #13 Review

Field Trip

Written By: Tim Sheridan
Art By: Tom Derenick, Peter Pantazis, Matt Herms, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 22, 2022

It's Part 4 of our War For Earth-3 storyline, where previously we saw Amanda Waller invade Earth-3, get Ultraman on her side, while Rick Flag and his Suicide Squad followed and tried to take their former boss down. Not to mention that Super Woman isn't happy about this invasion or the fact that she believes Talon killed her toy Owlman. So yeah, there's a lot of aggression going on in Earth-3, and in The Flash tie-in we saw previously it looked like whatever Amanda Waller has planned next, she needed Johnny Quick to come to Earth-0 and get the Cosmic Treadmill from the Flash Museum. Wally West didn't seem too worried about this incident though so let's see how our Titans deal with whatever problems come their way in a war they know nothing about. Let's check it out.

Let's jump into this issue and see what our Boy Wonder will do now that he's on his way back to Gotham. Let's check it out.

Task Force Z #6 Review

Evil Will Bloom

They're coming to get you, Barbara! That is if Barbara was a deceptive Mr. Bloom who has betrayed his team and plans on continuing the Lazarus Resin research with Geri Powers and leaving Two-Face and Red Hood looking like straight-up terrorists. That being said, we don't have to worry about how everyone looks just yet, we have to save Red Hood from the Suicide Squad wherein our previous issue, KGBeast had Red Hood all tied up and ready to kill him. Thankfully, Harvey Dent showed up to save Jason's day with zombie versions of Bane and Mr. Freeze. Let's jump into this issue and see if this zombie experiment continues to be as entertaining as its been so far. Let's check it out.

Action Comics #1041 Review

Kill Everyone For Apollo

Written By: Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Shawn Aldridge
Art By: Dale Eaglesham, Will Conrad, Lee Loughridge, Dave Sharpe, Adriana Melo, Hi-Fi
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: March 22, 2022

Let's head on back to Warworld to see what Superman and his Authority are up to in their continued attempt to take down Mongul and free the slaves of that horrible world. In our previous issue, we saw that Midnighter had planned on destroying the red star drives at the center of the world, ones that keep Superman weak due to their radiation, but our Man of Steel wasn't about this plan because it would end up killing too many innocents in the process. This led our hero to try and find a little power so that they could come up with a new plan and thankfully, a Phaelosian knew about some Source energy that seemed to fuel up our hero. Hopefully, it's enough to do some real damage against this hellscape and that he did it in time to stop Midnighter from going off half-cocked in his attempts to free Apollo. Let's jump into this issue and see what Superman does next and continue our Martian Manhunter backup. Let's check it out.
