Is Green Lantern #5 Good?
Green Lantern #5 is the bee's knees. Admittedly, Jeremy Adam's turn on the title got off to an uncertain start, but now that the action and excitement are in full swing, this series feels like a proper return to what makes Green Lantern so special.
When last we left Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, Sinestro's attempt to take Hal's ring for himself and escape to his home planet failed miserably. Rather than allow himself to be captured, Sinestro activated a series of hidden bombs around the city, forcing Hal to call in reinforcements in the form of the Fastest Man Alive.
Now, Sinestro secretly moves on to his next plan by escalating a worldwide campaign of fear by commandeering Ferris's cutting-edge fighter drones to attack major cities. Hal pushes his ring to the limit chasing down advanced fighters around the world before they do more danger and elevate a global atmosphere of fear. In the end, Hal might save the cities, but Sinestro may have found his ticket home.
Longtime Green Lantern fans who've missed some good old-fashioned ring-slinging get it here in spades. Hal breaks speed records, creates massive constructs, and throws a metaphorical Hail Mary by doing something he's never done before with his rings. If you want ring-slinging, Adams does not disappoint.
What's great about Green Lantern #5? Adams delivers 100% all-out Green Lantern action almost from start to finish. The pacing and action don't let up for a minute, and the last-page cliffhanger is a wow moment in Lantern lore.
What's not so great about Green Lantern #5? The last-page wow moment could also be a canon-breaker for Lantern enthusiasts. If Adams can offer a satisfying explanation, I'm all ears, but he's got a lot of 'splainin' to do.
How's the art? Xermánico's art style conveys power, energy, and hard hits. This is the issue where Xermánico gets to flex creative muscle, and it looks great.

Green Lantern #5 is a ring-slinging dream for Lantern enthusiasts. Jeremy Adams delivers past-paced Lantern action from beginning to end with a killer cliffhanger, and Xermánico's art is excellent.

I don't mind the last page cliffhanger at all! It's interesting. And your score is on point for this issue, I liked both this one and issue 4. Both were green lantern focused but also with subtle and well written character moments alongside the green lantern action bits. Actually the action in this issue especially had character for itself which is always a plus and draws the reader into the moment. Adams has a different voice for his green lantern series and Hal Jordan specifically in comparison to his Flash series which I appreciate. I also like the back up story with Tomasi a lot too. It's very heartfelt and well written.(so far at least).
