It's about to get cold in here as we move back into the Endless Winter, where previously we saw our heroes running around and not doing much beyond punching ice monsters, which is kind of nuts since this is Chapter 7 of our story, but thankfully it looks like we're finally going to do something here because in the last Chapter, the Teen Titans: Endless Winter Special #1, we were told by Donna Troy that our current situation feels a lot like a bedtime story that Hippolyta used to tell her...... and with that, Barry Allen and Donna Troy made their way to Themyscira to get the 411 on what our Amazon Queen knows. Yeah, it's a bit of a silly clue to get us to our main bit of information, but at this point, I'll take it as we get this story moving. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

For this installment we'll be looking at one of my favorite pastimes, sitting in a bar and bullshitting. That's right, we're Oblivion Bar bound as Hippolyta lays down what came before on our Justice League Dark heroes....... and Barry Allen so that we can understand the threat that the Earth is currently facing. For our flashback section of this book, which isn't the highlight this issue because the past information flows in this issue like a tap that won't shut, where we learn about the Viking Prince's glorious death, where he took the Frost King to his place of slumber for thousands of years.

It's funny too because, with all that's going on in the world, we also use this issue to continue with our previous Justice League Dark arc, where we head on back to the Other realm, which is now known as New Myrra to see if they can contact Swamp Thing since it helped to have one during the 10 AD battle against the Frost King and honestly, it never hurts to have an avatar for the Green in your corner. We're not that lucky though because apparently New Myrra sucks and needs Swamp Thing there, but the outcome of how we get the 10 AD Justice League back in active duty in present times is pretty cool and works well with this title being the Chapter for it.

All in all, this felt like a JLD issue through and through and didn't make any compromises in telling this Endless Winter story. It's just too bad that aspect doesn't elevate this mini-event much higher because besides getting part of an old band back together, there wasn't much to this issue..... the Viking Prince's glorious death aside. We hang out in the Oblivion Bar, we do some magic-y stuff, we head on b6ack to New Myrra and while we're doing all of this, we find out more about the Frost King. It all works, but like the rest of the story, it just isn't all that interesting and I can only hope that for the final two chapters to this story that things can be seriously amped up here because I just need something.

Bits and Pieces:

This is probably my second favorite issue in this mini-event and that's because it focuses more on the flashbacks of the Justice League from 10 AD and also feels like it's a part of the main Justice League Dark series. That being said, there still isn't much to this issue. Yeah, I like the art and I like the direction we're going from this issue but there's still a lot of rehashing and sitting around in a bar and talking and if I'm not the one doing it, it's never as much fun.

6.5/10
