This book is not one that we were reviewing on our site, but after reading Scooby Apocalypse (don't hate me people), I was looking for a little Scooby fix and this is where I found it.  In the spirit of the old Scooby team-ups (Kiss, Harlem Globetrotters.etc), this comic is a whole bunch of fun and with the DC characters involved, fits right with the Weird Science Get Fresh Crew.  This issue is the second part of a Shazam/Marvel Family story that started off really good.  Do we continue the fun this week?  Let's find out...

The issue opens with Mr. Mind and his Monster Society grabbing the gangs (Scooby and Marvel) and spelling out their collective dooms.  They will all be part of the Society once Mr. Mind "changes" them a bit.  Luckily, Shaggy and Velma say their secret words ("zoinks" and "jinkies", of course) and somehow are part of the Marvel Family!?!

While I was confused as to the what and hows of getting Shaggy and Velma Marvel, I loved every second of it.  Shaggy ends up flying around and knocking off some robot heads and Velma (or Mar-Velma) kicks some butt as well.  Shaggy causing earthquakes with his knocking knees?  Hilarious!

While the two new Marvels are distracting everybody else, the real Marvel Family gets free and utter the more familiar magic words and suddenly, we got ourselves a Marvel Family party all up in here. With the tables turned, the Monster Society gets taken apart pretty easily, but it's all a whole bunch of fun.

While I still think Shaggy is the best, Fred and Velma do a good job on Ibac and Sabbac as well.  Then Shaggy steps in and how he stops Mr. Mind is just goofy fun.  However, the goofiest and funniest part is when we find out all about Velma and Shaggy's new powers.

The Old Wizard granted them to our heroes and the acronyms that make up their power sets are so awesome.  The chapter ends with the powers being taken away for Shaggy and Velma (boo!!!) and a couple of "marvelous" jokes.

The reason why this team-up book always works so well is that Sholly Fisch nails the voices of all the Scooby Gang and puts them in situations that may be crazy, but still fit.  Seeing Shaggy with superpowers is great, but seeing how he "uses" them makes it even better.  The icing on the cake was when Mr. Mind calls Scooby a "meddling dog"!  Awesome!

Dario Brizuela's art nails it all as well.  Both the Marvel Family and the Scooby Gang look fantastic, but the Monster Society stole the show.  I think you'll agree that this is one of the best Mr. Banjo you have probably seen in years.  Yes, that's a joke...or is it???

Bits and Pieces:

If you have a young one who you want to get into Scooby-Doo and/or DC Comics, then I have your two birds/one stone solution right here.  Sholly Fisch and Dario Brizuela do both properties justice and it's all just a good time.  Isn't that enough?  I know one reviewer who would say "yes" to that and he gives this chapter a...

8.5/10
