*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Titans has been on an uptick since the previous issue. We actually had an issue that wasn’t completely dependant on storylines occurring in other comics. We got real character development and our team finally got off that planet they were stuck on for two issues. I’m hoping we continue this path rather than being stuck in the previous crossover event for even longer. Let’s just jump right in and see where this issue takes us.

Our heroes return to Earth with the help of Kyle Rayner and land at the Hall of Justice. The team asks Raynor about his experiences behind the Source Wall which he experienced in a previous storyline. We catch up with Ben so that we have some context about what happened with the Drowned Earth storyline for those that weren’t reading that storyline. (This would have been nice if that attitude was prevalent for the last 4 issues). Ben touches base with Steel telling her that something was going on with Ms. Martian but Steel reveals that they all found out about Ms. Martian’s secret and they are all okay with it. Donna and Kyle leave to report to the league.

The rest of the team begins running some tests to make sure everyone is okay, starting with Gar. Ms. Martian then sits down with Raven, asking about her vision. She uses her mind-link to look into Raven’s mind and sees Unearth. However, she sealed it off from the multiverse before so they can’t return. Meanwhile, Donna and Kyle spar so Batman can review their status. As the two fight, something strange begins to happen to Gar in the machine. Donna tells Batman about the Blood Cult and their attempts to control the source energy. Batman likes her plan and likes that she is now in charge of the team. She touches base with Batman about Ms. Martian and then is called away by Steel.

When Donna arrives back in the lab, she finds Gar being held to the machine by some strange red webbing. She attempts to free him but is stopped by the team. Then the Red speaks through Gar asking the Titans for their help. The Blood Cult has targeted them by setting their sights on Unearth. The team is able to use the Boom Room technology to get back to Unearth even though it had been sealed away. This not only allows them to tackle the issue of the Blood Cult but also the issue of Raven’s Soul Self being missing. Our group opens the door and rushes into Unearth with weapons drawn. This is where the issue ends.

This issue falls somewhere in the middle. It’s definitely better than others. We get real progress on several storylines. I like that we are finally addressing Raven’s situation, which should have happened as soon as they realized it was happening. We continue with the Blood Cult storyline and we even add a new teammate. However, the majority of this book is just our characters sitting around and discussing things that we already know.

Bits and Pieces

Our issue falls in the middle as we get some good progression with our characters but for the most part, we see our characters standing around and talking about situations that we already know about. It’s just rehashing old information and that is a big disappointment.

6.0/10
