Wonder Woman #752 Review

Written by: Steve Orlando
Art by: Max Raynor
Colours by: Romulo Farjado Jr
Letters by: Pat Brosseau
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: February 26, 2020

Last issue, Diana's sojourn in Boston got off to a decent enough start with our Amazon heroine more or less winning over her Boston PD chaperone with a fairly typical display of compassion, heroism, and strength. That issue also promised some interesting villains going forward, though. Will we see those teases being developed this time around? Well, we're not going to find out if we stand here chatting all day, are we?

Amethyst #2 Review

Fast Friends

Writer: Amy Reeder
Artist: Amy Reeder
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 25, 2020

I liked the first issue of Amethyst a lot more than I thought I would, even as an Amy Reeder fan.  I am not a Gemworld enthusiast, and Brian Michael Bendis didn't make me more of one when Young Justice was hanging out there.  In fact, I think he made me like it less!  However, Reeder did enough to make me interested in the character of Amethyst and her current plight.  So, did this issue surprise me as well?  Let's find out...

All Blades, Aww Yeah

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Christopher Williams, Scott Hanna, Arif Prianto, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: February 26, 2020

Now that our Outlaws team is back together again, it's time to get back to basics.  Hopefully though, with their time apart, it doesn't come off odd or forced to get the gang back together again in a cohesive, working fashion.  That's what we're up to here.  A good old fashioned, Red Hood and the Outlaws mission, not to mention a lot of tying up of loose ends from before.  Let's jump into this issue and see if Jason and his friends can face their newest and for Jason, one of his oldest threats of this series.  Let's check it out.

Scatapult My Heart

Writer: Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti
Artist: Amanda Conner, Paul Mounts, and John J. Hill
Cover Price: $5.99
Release Date: February 12, 2020

I am a big fan of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner and was so excited when I heard they would be back doing Harley.  The only thing I wondered was how they would work in the Birds of Prey angle between Red Tool gags, roller derby mayhem, and Gang of Harley missions!  Yea, I had no idea what the book was going to be about, but a guy can dream, can't he?  CAN'T HE????  So, what is going on here, and is it any good?  Let's find out...

Strange Adventures #1 Review

Release Date: March 4, 2020

Tom King must be waxing poetic about the good old days before Heroes in Crisis, the Bat/Cat wedding lie, and being booted off Batman before his self proclaimed 100 issue run could run its course.  Back when Mister Miracle was winning hearts and awards, the world was his oyster, and it may be back with Strange Adventures.  Tom and his BFF, Mitch Gerads, are joined by Evan "Doc" Shaner to give us their take on Adam Strange that is sure to dark, depressing, and hopefully uplifting as well.  How was this first issue?  Let's find out...

A few weeks ago Ox Eye Media was having a "free comic book week" on their website where they were giving out a bunch of comics from their Source Point Press comic label, so I grabbed everything that I could. Out of all the ones I've read so far I've been very impressed with them all, but The Rot #1 has been my favorite. I immediately bought the entire first volume and I can't wait to get it in the mail.

It should be no surprise to readers of the site that your ol’ pal Reggie is a fan of Dial H for Hero. And not just the initial series seen in the pages of Showcase, or later in Adventure Comics, or when it had its own self-titled series, or the semi-inspired series Hero Hotline, or the most recent iteration at the dawn of the New 52—I have enjoyed them all for different reasons. So if I don’t like this version—it’s broken the chain! Or will this be my most favorite take on the Hero Dial of all? More will have to come out to be sure. For now, check out my review of Dial H for Hero #1, right here!

Well, well, well. If it isn’t one of the characters that DC screwed up royally during the New 52. Something about having ushered forth from the primordial ooze or some such? I don’t believe DC Comics ever developed the character enough to speak about. There’s been an appropriate cooling off period, and now he’s back for the first time in the prestige format The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, and I’ve reviewed book one of the series right here!

Hooray! It’s the moment we [fans of Green Lantern] have all been waiting for! Mind you, while I thought Green Lantern Corps was a meandering, long-winded book, I liked Green Lanterns overall…it had its good and its bad issues. But there can be no doubting that the franchise need a sprucing up—and who better to spruce than Grant Morrison himself? Some would say: nearly anyone. But not me! Let’s see what I think of Green Lantern #1, by reading my review right now!
