DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 9/13/14

It's week two of the Futures End Event and while I haven't been too impressed so far ( a whole other story there), this week at least had some decent covers.  However, when the smoke cleared, there was one that stood out for me.  Yes, that was a lame attempt at a pun.  Is this on?  Oh well...on with the covers.

Cover of the Week:

Constantine: Futures End #1 (Juan Ferreyra)

This cover is so cool and goes against everything I thought about the Futures End covers.  I really thought they were generic, relying on the 3D gimmick to sell copies. Ferreyra, however, kicks ass here.  Constantine with the Helmet of Fate?  It doesn't get much better.  Eric hasn't reviewed the issue just yet, but I think he will give it a 7.5/10.  how do I know?  It may just be fate.  I'm here all week, folks.

Runners Up:

Batgirl: Futures End #1 (Clay Mann with Romulo Fajardo Jr.)

It's fitting that such a great issue gets such an awesome cover.  Clay Mann and Romulo Fajardo Jr. don't only have two of the most awesome names in comics, they know how to draw.  Gail Simone's last Batgirl issue couldn't have asked for more...Bat Signal, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze...awesome.

Superman Unchained #8 (Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair)

Jim Lee's arch enemy has always been the deadline.  It's a shame because this book really could have been something special.  Instead, it's a really good mini series with awesome art.  This month's cover shows just that.  A pretty pissed off Superman and a behemoth Wraith in an all out action and destruction fest.  So good.

Cover Song of the Week: David Bowie's Ashes to Ashes (Tears for Fears)

If we haven't made it quite obvious, there are a few things we love...80's pop culture and comics.  So, what better cover than David Bowie's 1980 hit, Ashes to Ashes, done by my wife's favorite band of all-time, Tears for Fears.  Enjoy.
