I have a couple weaknesses.  Breakfast cereal, deep fried food of any kind and comic book teamups.  Unfortunately, this week's Sensation Comics didn't have any fried wontons or Cocoa Pebbles hidden in it's digital code, but it did have a teamup.  Yep, this issue features Big Barda and Wonder Woman in a fun story that also includes two great villains and a running joke that got a chuckle out of me.

The issue starts with Barda and Diana coming out of a Boom Tube looking badass and name dropping Mister Miracle like it's nobodies business.  While discussing the Lowlies and grabbing a hot dog, they are summoned into action.  It's off to the horrble sounding New Museum of Alternative Energy to see what's going on.  What they find is a little monkey business...sort of.

No matter what Barda says, they run into a small army of robot gorillas.  I love the reaction from Barda and it makes total sense to me.  Robot gorillas are made to be punched in the face.  While Barda is kicking robot ass, Wonder Woman rightly wonders who is really behind the break in.  When the villains are revealed it is awesome.

The reason I love this book is that each week you don't know what you'll get.  Every writer is free to tell their story in (almost) any way they want with (almost) whatever characters they choose.  Adam P. Knave gives us Monsieur Mallah and the Brain!  I laughed out loud when I saw them and while the fun continues, Knave also tugs on the heart strings a bit as well.  While Barda and Mallah duke it out and discuss the monkey vs gorilla debate, Wonder Woman gets to the heart of the matter.  The Brain isn't after personal gain, but self preservation.  The ending was a bit underwhelming, but it was nice to see a story where everyone wins in the end.  I enjoyed this issue for what it was, a fun one-shot with some awesome guest stars.  It didn't blow my mind, but I was smiling throughout.

I wasn't smiling at Mathew Dow Smith's art, however.  I just didn't like it.  Everything had an unfinished look and the character models were horrible.  maybe it was a personal taste thing, but I was out after the first panel.

Bits and Pieces:

Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #11 was a fun one-shot with great guest stars, but bad art.  If you can look past the later I'm sure you'll have a smile on your face by the time you finish this story.

6.8/10
