DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 4/11/15

It's time to put all of our difference aside and...Convergence. The first week of the big DC Comics event has come and gone and while I'm still trying to get my brain around the different rules and boundaries that each issue presented, as a whole I am very happy.  We got to see the Extremists, El Inferno and a whole lot of people bitching about life under the dome.  However, like Roy Harper, Stephanie Brown and Harley Quinn, you'll hear no complaints from me.  As for the covers, there were some pretty good ones which I will pick and rank for you here.  I'm good like that, or as the kids say nowadays, "Shuwante".  They do say that, right?  On with the covers...

Cover of the Week

Convergence: Speed Force #1 (Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund)

Everyone loves themselves a handful of Wally West, right?  Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund not only show the awesomeness that is Wally, but also gives fans the promise of fun with Jai and Iris.  It's the perfect match to the story inside.  It's also a great shoutout to the original Speed Force #1 (Here).  I know that Brett loves Wally so it's cool that he got to draw with his heart (that sounds kind of disgusting) and hit it out of the park.

Runners Up

Convergence #1 Variant(Tony S. Daniel and Mark Morales)

This one is listed as the 1B variant cover, but it's A #1 to me.  Any cover that has all of my favorite characters done in such a great way has to make this list.  Harley looks so badass just standing there like it's nobodies business.  You know why?  because it isn't! Well, maybe it's Batman's business, but I don't give a monkey's elbow what the Dark Knight thinks. So there.

Convergence #1 Variant (Brian Bolland)

Do I really have to explain why this one made the list?  Two reasons...Plastic Man and Swamp Thing.  Two great tastes that should never, ever go together and yet are here and it's awesome. Sure, they are not in the issue at all, but who cares.  Repeat after me...Plastic Man and Swamp Thing.

Convergence: The Question #1 (Cully Hamner)

Even if Eric insists his name is Cully Hammer (He said it on our Podcast this week so go check it out HERE), it's Hamner and that is spelled with an 'awesome".  If that doesn't make sense to you, look at this cover and you'll become one of the converted.  Hamner (remember...awesome) gives fans such a subtle image that is strong at the same time that it is confining.  Kind of like Renee Montoya in the book itself.  On a side note, the issue itself is so good and you should all check it out.

Convergence: The Titans #1 (Emanuela Lupacchino)

This cover is just fun, fun, fun.  Even Brian Wilson would agree and who wouldn't?  You get Donna Troy, Starfire and Roy Harper all happy to be together.  But wait...Roy has his daughter with him. The only way that could happen is if he decides to kill...oh boy.

That's it for this week.  I hope you all agree with my choices, but if you don't, email us at weirdsciencedccomics@gmail.com and I'll read your rants on our podcast.  Yes, that's another shameless plug combined with some good, old fashioned begging for mail.

See you next week.
