Marvel Monday Marvelous Covers of the Week - July 12, 2017

Marvel Mondays Marvelous Covers – Week of July 12, 2017

Hello Weird Science! Back at ya, for our weekly  cover extravaganza which will be a little short this week because well frankly there weren’t a whole lot of cover that absolutely knocked anybody’s socks off … we’re not just talking Negative Nancy me either, we’re talking the majority of the GFC (whoop whoop!). However theres always a few gems hidden in the garbage and Im happy to spotlight three winners inparticular. So jump inside and check out this weeks Marvelous covers.

 Star Wars: Darth Vader #3
Cover Artist: Olivier Coipel

I'm not the best at breaking down why art is good and summing it up into words however what I can notice here is this is one hell of a bad ass image.  Vader is taking on a fierce looking dude, lightsaber-less, and I want to read every panel about why based on this cover alone ... and Im not even a Star Wars fan. Job well done Mr. Coipel.

Spider-Men II #1
Cover Artist: Julian Totino Tedesco

Love the red background and the white outlines in the background here as our heroes swing throught the air in classic Spider-Men style.  Im not normally a huge Spider-Man variant cover fan but Tedesco makes me change my tune with this effort this week.

Deadpool #33
Cover Artist: David Lopez

Gotta love when Deadpool is forced to confront the real aspects of life head-on, like having to report to school because his daughter got in trouble … Dadpool in full effect!  The colors suit the mood for this family related cover affair while Deadpool in the background looks to be calmly handling any concerns the school seems to have. Excellent scene composition even the subtle Hydra jokes is great!

Thats it for this week, holler at me throughout the week on the Slack chat or on Twitter @bmur3660 if you think something deserves some spotlight let us know!

  1. Great 'short' review of the covers. I like the Darth Vader #3. Although Vader is down without his saber, but he doesnt look helpless. He's cooking something.
