Let's jump back into this "Cold Days" arc and see if Bruce Wayne can get over Bane not letting him get married and then because of that, be "broken" because of it.  It's gonna be weird if this little arc is all it takes for Bane's plan to go to hell.  So, let's get back into this story, where Bruce Wayne has to get the jury on his side to acquit Mr. Freeze of murder.  Let's check it out.

Right away, I'll tell ya...... There isn't anything really wrong with this issue of Batman beyond that it's incredibly dull.  I mean, last issue I was really upset with the fact that Bruce Wayne was allowed on the jury even though he has a connection to both Batman and Mr. Freeze and I was upset that we didn't really get any of the deliberation or why certain evidence was allowed......... Hell, for all the tampering that Batman seemed to do in the case it seemed like Mr. Freeze should have been immediately set free and then sued the city.  Well, we get some of my problems I had previously cleared up here, like certain points about the evidence, but with that........... it didn't make an interesting comic book.

What we have for this issue is a bunch of hypothetical questions brought up by Bruce Wayne to the rest of the jury that are supposed to give reasonable doubt to Freeze's guilt, but by the end.......... we don't get any reasons for these to matter because there isn't enough story to this to pad out an issue so while we get some full page scenes of Batman fighting Mr. Freeze and some narration of Bruce Wayne meeting his fellow jurors, we have to wait another issue for anything that Bruce said here to matter.

I'll tell ya though, I really enjoyed the art in this issue, even though the majority of it is a bunch of people sitting at a table and even though I found most of this to be pretty dull and padded out to prolong the pain of this arc, there wasn't really anything here to hate in this issue.  That doesn't mean I like it, but I can see possibly why someone would enjoy it.  Hopefully, in the upcoming issue all of what we've gone through will make sense and I'll have a better appreciation for this arc, but as of right now I'm just kind of bored.

Bits and Pieces:

Two issues after Bane supposedly broke the Bat and it seems like Bruce is getting his shit together.  Hopefully that means that he'll be getting more interesting stories because while this issue makes more sense to me than what we got previously, it's still pretty dull and I'm just waiting to turn that corner where I can start appreciating Batman as a character again.  I'm a fan of the art this issue, but I'm already pretty bored of jury duty.

5.2/10

  1. This one I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Still think the premise as a whole is pretty dumb and straight forward and everything Bruce was talking about was pretty dumb and contrived, but as a whole I just really liked how this issue was written and how it flowed. Didn't love it, but didn't dislike it at all.
