Supergirl's Dressed To Kill.

Last issue of Green Lantern, we saw some dire times for Hal, and the Corps.  A Durlan shape shifter infiltrated Mogo, impersonated Hal, and sent a message out to the universe.  A message which might not make you a big fan of the Green Lantern Corps.  While the message went out, multiple sector houses of the Corps., were attacked, and our heroes are pretty much at their lowest point.  Hopefully Hal can get his shit together, and lead this Corps. back to greatness.  This issue is the special flip book issue, which will add Supergirl to the mix of overwhelming problems now facing Green Lanterns, so hopefully Hal doesn't start going bald due to stress.

Explain It!:

This story starts out with two Lanterns returning to Mogo, to aid the Corps. in this dangerous time.  But on the way they encounter a raging Red Lantern.  It takes some doing but they eventually subdue the Red, and take her to Mogo.  So that's a lesson to all you young guys out there.  If a woman attacks you it's okay to knock her out, and take her home.  OH GOD DON'T DO THAT!  NEVER LISTEN TO WHAT ERIC SAYS!  For legal reasons I was forced to put that, I hope you are still able to enjoy the review.

Back on Mogo, things have gotten worse than you think.  Not only do we have all the problems the Corps. are facing, but now they're recruiting old criminal to join them take down these intergalactic terrorist.  Classic villains like Evil Star, and Bolphunga are joining up to fight for the future.  They're doing their part, are you?  Join the Green Lantern Corps. and save the universe.  Service guarantees citizenship.  Would you like to know more?

The two Lanterns who encountered the newly raged out Supergirl finally make their way to Mogo, and Hal is disturbed to find out she is Kryptonian.  I find it weird that he doesn't know about Supergirl, but a lot in the Green Lantern timeline doesn't add up to the rest of the DCU so take it for what it is.  So Hal goes to Saint Walker to try and get him to cure this mysterious Kryptonian of her red affliction.  Remember now new Reds are quite crazy, and no one really wants to deal with them before you dunk them in a pool of magic blood.  No I'm serious.  But Saint Walker still isn't up to the task, his hope is still lost and he would rather be alone, then deal with the problems of the universe, but in a non-dick way.  So Hal's only recourse is to take Supergirl to Ysmault, and see why Guy's been recruiting Reds, and if the magic blood pool will work for her.

But once on Ysmault, the Lanterns find themselves not really welcome.  We're also given a piece of information I was really wondering about.  During the whole Relic debacle, the Reds agreed to help the Greens if they were given a sector of space to patrol.  Hal agreed to these terms, and then it just seemed that the Reds had sector 2814 (Earth, and Ysmault's sector) but this information was never given to me, I just went with it.  But now it seems that Hal is as shocked as I was.  So it seems like Guy and Hal have some things to talk about.

Bits and Pieces:

While I've been looking forward to this flip book issue, and the introduction of Supergirl as a Red Lantern, we weren't really given much information on what's going on, or how Supergirl even became a Red.  But don't let that deter you, because this is a really good issue of Green Lanterns.  I don't know if it's because of all the interactions between the different characters, or the prospects of stories to come from this, but it's a really good time.  Hal finally seems to becoming the leader he needs to be, and a leader under fire at that.  Now it's on to Red Lanterns.

8.5/10
