System Overdrive part 6 of 8: Firewall

Brainiac has taken over most of the World, and half the Justice League are lying to each other.  Flash and Micron deliver a "voodoo" virus to Brainiac, but he just shuts the doors on them.  Just when it looks good, trouble arrives on Paradise Island.

The battle is on and Christos Gage is making it so good.  The Justice League is desperate and desperate times call for crazy plans.  While the team bunkers down on Paradise Island, Flash and Micron are trying to deliver a virus that will shut down Brainiac.  Unfortunately, while it seems to work in the short term, by the end of the comic Gage makes us wonder if it's just winning the battle, but losing the war.

The best part of this issue is only a couple panels long, but it was still the highlight for me.  Warhawk actually compliments Zod.  To those reading from the beginning, you know that was big.  Then after Zod leaves, Warhawk tells Superman he still doesn't fully trust the little guy.  It is such a great moment and shows that Warhawk knows the War is going to end one way or the other and is looking for any advantage he can give the team.  Right behind that moment is when Flash lies to Micron.  Again, it's to help inspire Micron.  It's great and hilarious.

The arc is coming to an end soon and Gage is setting things up for a final epic battle.  I can't wait for the next two issues.

The art of Iban Coello is great as usual.  The only thing I found weird was a panel with Batman.  As everything is going nuts around the World, Terry has the creepiest grin on his face.  It may have been intentional, but it just came off as strange.  Other than that, everything is really good.

Bits and Pieces:

Justice League Beyond 2.0 #14 is another great chapter in the series.  The Justice League is desperate and the final battle is on the horizon.  Christos Gage and Iban Coello are firing on all cylinders and I can't wait for the last two issues.

8.8/10
