Justice League #36 Review and *SPOILERS*

Getting Sick Just Became Worse

Last month in Justice League we saw Bruce becoming partners with Lex Luthor in a joint venture to pull their resources together and make a better world for all of us, but what Lex didn't know is that this was a giant ruse for Bruce to find incriminated evidence that the Justice League could use against the villain turned hero.  During Bruce's private tour of Lex's personal lab an assassin named Neutron breaks in and intends on collecting a bounty put on Luthor's head.  During the scuffle Neutron blows a hole in a containment area and unleashes a outbreak known as The Amazo Virus.  That's where we left off on that issue, let's see what Metropolis looks like twenty four hours later as our heroes try to find Patient Zero and hopefully end this outbreak.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our story begins with a evacuated Metropolis, where Batman in a containment suit and Superman search the city for patient zero.  During their search they come across some looters, who we find out are infected with the Amazo Virus and we find out exactly what that means.  On top of having a severely reduced life span........ like twenty four hours, it seems that stage two of the virus gives superpowers to it's hosts.  So Batman and Superman carefully take out the looters and continue their search for the Typhoid Mary continuing this disease.  

In a secured location we see that Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Power Ring and Neutron are all suffering the affects of the virus and Lex Luthor is trying to get to the bottom of it, but to properly cure the infected he's going to need Patient Zero and if he doesn't get him, then our heroes will die.  It's here where we find out that Steve Trevor is taking over the operation and that the Amazo Virus was created by Lex Luthor as a viable weapon against the meta humans before it was turned down by the White House.  Lex created it using the Amazo andoid and it was merely supposed to suppress the individual's powers, but now it's mutated and we have our current situation.  Now Metropolis is bad enough but we find out from Steve Trevor that the President has shut down all flights because the virus has been found in other cities and as far west as Central City.

In the end we see that the mysterious person who put out a hit on Luthor's life, is now hiring another assassin named Bullet to finish Neutron's job and after scouring the city, Batman and Superman have finally found their Patient Zero and man does he look like a big ass Grundy looking mother fucker.  Besides for the normal shit, I wonder who Lex pissed off enough for them to want him dead.......... Yeah, like Lex said "It's a long list".

That's it for this month's Justice League and besides for really setting up the isolated feel of the situation, I really don't have much to say about this issue.  Luthor giving exposition and Batman and Superman hunting for Patient Zero........ Just not a lot going on here.  Hopefully next month's issue kicks it up a notch because I found myself pretty bored when reading this, besides for lonely feeling I felt from the great set up in the beginning.  

Bits and Pieces:

While I have a man crush on Ivan Reis's art............ That doesn't really matter here because I totally screwed up by putting that when this is really Jason Fabok's art.  So with that said I really enjoyed it and keep rocking it Fabok!  That's the most I can say favorably about this issue though.  His art really set up a great isolated feeling when we stepped into a quarantined Metropolis and all our favorite characters looked great, but the story just lacked and I couldn't get into it.  Amazo Virus exposition and Batman and Superman looking for someone....... That's about it.  Hopefully next issue will pick up the pace and make the Amazo Virus a story to remember.
