Brett Booth Leaving DC's The Flash Comic

Say it ain't so Brett!

When the February 2016 Solicits dropped on Monday, one thing that stuck out to me was the solicit for The Flash #49.

On the run from a police task force assigned to take him out, The Flash must face the CCPD’s newest deputies: The Rogues. As you can tell from the cover, it does not go particularly well.

If you have been paying attention, that is two issues in a row with Jesus Merino on art and no Booth.  I'm no rocket surgeon, but even I could tell something was up.  In fact, I joked with Eric on Tuesday that I was going to report that Booth was off the book in a half joking way, but inside I feared that it was actually true.

Well, my fears were confirmed last night when Brett took to Twitter to announce his departure from the book with the following tweet:

And that's it for my time in Central City. Big thanks to all the Flash fans, hope to visit again soon!

It looks like December's #47 will be Booth's last on The Flash and while I'm glad he gets to finish up the Zoom Crew storyline, I am so upset over his departure. I love Jesus Merino's art, but right now, when I think of the Flash, I think of Booth's art. Yes, I'm a fanboy through and through, but it was this book that solidified my membership.

I know this sort of thing happens all the time in comics (and life in general), but it doesn't make it suck any less. I'm sure he's already got a bunch of things lined up and I know I will be a fan of whatever he does from here on out, it just sucks it won't be on The Flash.

    1. I kind of would like to know that myself. Hopefully nothing bad with dc. I mean things like this happen all the time so most likely hes just moving on to other projects.

    2. Well written, Steve Orlando! He did say he is off to do a 5-issue mini that will be announced in the March solicits

  2. I say, thank god. Booth for me was all kinds of wrong for Flash. I could never seriously consider getting back into the series while he was on art. Nothing against Booth personally.
