Even though we had that Titans Annual shoved in the other week that had nothing to do with our main story right now, we're back and ready to finish off "Made In Manhattan" and finally find out what's going on with Bumblebee and what the Fearsome Five are up to........... Yeah, we know they're collecting and selling off powers, but maybe there's more to it than just that....... maybe.  In our previous issue, we saw Nightwing and Wally head on over to Meta-Solutions after hours so that they could dig around and hopefully find some nefarious shit that they could haul the Five's asses to jail with and you know what?....... They found it.  Too bad that they were all powered up and took our heroes to school.... the school of hard knocks.  Let's jump into this issue and see if the rest of the Titans and even Bumblebee can make a difference when the Five are ready to play.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with Wally and Nightwing, tied up and at the Five's mercy, whom it seems are going to go ahead and steal our heroes' powers............. Yeah, they say they're going to take Nightwing's talents and natural abilities and I know that that sounds like bullshit....... because it is, but I guess we're going to have to go with this idea and move along.  Anyway, the Five won't have the chance though because the Titans showed up to save their friends and we get a run down of our villains as it happens.  Psimon and Mammoth have already been discussed in this arc, but here we get Jinx giving Donna Troy and Roy some bad luck, while Shimmer comes along and uses her matter transmutation powers to trap Donna into the floor............. and Gizmo...... Well, Gizmo does the tech stuff.  Yeah, not much for Gizmo to do here, but he's not needed because the rest of the Five seriously whoop our team's ass.

Thankfully, Bumblebee shows up with her alpha level powers that Psimon seemed to be so interested in, in the previous issue and uses them to fly, shoot and shrink her way to victory, while her husband Mal tries to make it to Meta-Solutions in time to her knight in shining armor........... or an old Nightwing costume as it was, but he's too late.

In the end, Psimon gives Bumblebee a little parting gift in the form of a full mental intrusion, where he takes something from her mind that he claims is a part that made her HER, but thankfully, he doesn't do much harm because Omen comes back in the game and lays Psimon out.  As our issue closes, the Fearsome Five are arrested, the Titans go back to Titans tower and we find out that Bumblebee no longer remembers Mal or the baby they had together and if things were looking shitty enough, we also find out that the Fearsome Five were working for H.I.V.E., which will bring us right into our Lazarus Contract story next month.

That's it for this issue of Titans and the Made in Manhattan arc and while I did enjoy the tongue and cheek ending dealing with H.I.V.E. and the Titans history with them, the rest of the book seemed kind of forced to get to a conclusion, especially since we don't get anymore info about what makes Bumblebee's powers to exceptional, only that she can use them to whip a team of super villains down no problem.  Yeah, the rest of our Titans were pretty useless in this issue, but even with that and the forced conclusion, I still found myself enjoying this issue and loved the art throughout.  Hopefully, the Lazarus Contract story that's coming with reinvigorate my interest in this book because while I love the Titans in New York and the fact that they're working as a team now, this arc kind of killed my hype for this series........... Still a decent issue though, I just wanted more.

Bits and Pieces:

Our Made in Manhattan story comes to an end in this issue and I have to say....... It felt kind of rushed.  Yeah, our heroes ended up fighting like it was their first time out and the way to their victory seemed kind of forced with no real explanation.  The best parts of this issue was the art throughout and the setup to get us to our next arc.  With that though, this is still a decent issue, I just wish it gave us more.

6.8/10

  1. Fearsome Five and Meta-Solutions is a front for HIVE. The real question whose front is HIVE. Are they employed by Oz or do they seek him in microverse? Psimon took his little something and he won't share it with the board he will come back for the rest. Poor Karen now the heavy lifting is up to Herald. My guess Bumblebee taps into the microverse to power up like Flash into the speed force.

  2. Cross my fingers there won't be any team shake ups. Whenever I hear the words contract and Titans in a sentence the worst comes to mind. The worstest is that they want to make traitors out of lifetime friends HUUUUUGE CRIME! If something bad happens to any of the Titans count me done with Rebirth and DC.
