*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The war is on between Bane and Kobra and the only thing our main character needs now........ is an army.  That's right, it's time to get the best of the best together so that our venom shooting, brainiac brute can stand a chance and as we saw at the end of the previous issue, he already has the former KGBeast at his side.  Now it's time to fill up the rest of the roster.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins........... and pretty much stays with Bane pretty much just going around and recruiting people onto his team and with that, we start with Gunhawk and Gunbunny on an assassination job when Bane shows up and after he tells them how much working for him pays, they immediately get on the trolley and follow the big man......... after they finish their initial job first though.  Next, we move on to Bird buying guns from Malek and Steppenwolf of all people and I'll tell ya, it's a real quick part of the book, but I never would have imagined that somehow we would have gotten the New Gods into this book, especially this close to the end and I'm kind of interested to see how they'll play out in this series now that we know that Steppenwolf is intrigued with what kind of chaos Bane will bring with his war on Kobra.

Back to the team roster, Bane goes on to recruit King Faraday, a dude who's called Shaka and another dude running from what appears to be authorities in Paris.......... and really, this is the biggest problem with the book.  I have no idea who two of the six recruits are and this issue does nothing to give you the slightest idea........ Hell, you really don't even get names thrown out so that you can do your own research.

In the end, Kobra is still pissed that they don't have Bane's head on a pike yet and Bane makes his first strike with his new team, where they kidnap one of the high lords of the House of Asp........ you know, the House of Asp and they force him to tell them where Kobra is hiding out.

That's it for this issue of Bane: Conquest and while I'm still slightly interested in where this series is going, this issue with its simple premise and not spelling out who people are really let me down because it was a bit of a snooze fest, especially since some of the recruitment scenes were kind of boring themselves.  The art continues to be great in this series, but all in all this was an issue that just kind of missed the mark and squandered an opportunity to be really fun.

Bits and Pieces:

Bane's army may have been recruited this issue, but the way we got there was pretty boring overall and really disappointing in the fact that not all of the characters were spelled out and now I'm left here wondering who the hell is actually on the team.  The art continues to be the strongest part of this series and while I still need to know how this ends, this issue let me down a lot.

4.8/10
