Soule's Daredevil run continues to chug along but it has really started to gain steam recently since Garney is back on art duties. Soule has decided now is the time to get back to the things that were extremely interesting in the start of his tenure on the title. That being the addition to the D.D. Family, Blindspot. Who is Daredevil's potential sidekick/partner. Also Blindspot being an illegal immigrant from China with a family loosely tied to The Hand posed an interesting dynamic. So let us just travel to China and find our hero.

We open to Daredevil awaking in a pit unmasked. Blindspot is standing on the outside of the pit looking down acknowledging the fact that Matt Murdock is Daredevil. Matt asks Sam (Blindspot), "How did you get your eye sight back?"

With that we are treated to a flashback of Sam as a baby and his mother working the fields in China. She hated that life and as soon as she was able to she moved Sam and her to the city. Since kids need schooling she enrolled Sam in a Peking Opera Acrobat training facility. Which made it easy for Blindspot to pick up the technics Daredevil taught him later in life. His mother eventually saved up enough for them to get smuggled to America.

As Blindspot continues to recap what we have seen play out over the first ten or so issues in Soule's DD run. We are keyed into screaming that has been going on in the background while Blindspot has been telling his story, which has taken Sam a good number of days to tell for various outside reasons.

The screams we are told is Tenfingers. The big bad from the first arc of this run. Tenfingers also died at the end of the first arc. His limbs were ripped from his body by Muse. Some how The Beast got a hold of him before he died and has continued to rip him to pieces and returning him to life the next day only to rip him to pieces again. The Beast does this every day and Tenfingers gets to keep the memory of each time. The Beast wants him to keep his memory because he says his soul tastes better when it is Hopeless. So yeah magic good enough explanation for me it is the Hand after all. They are a big magic based villain.

The Beast was also able to give Blindspot back his eyesight. Once his mother sacrificed her soul for it.  Which, brings us to the reason Blindspot asked Daredevil here in the first place...Or we assume.

Blindspot allows Daredevil to make a dramatic escape. For reasons we first assume to be to rescue Sam's mother from The Beast. But, Blindspot has already rescued his mother by promising to deliver The Beast...Daredevil. The whole crisscross applesauce was because The Beast prefers the souls he consumes Hopeless they taste better that way.

Bits and Pieces:

Well this book has finally started to deliver the goods again. Everything that I loved from the beginning of Soule's run is flooding back and I'm riding high on the wave again.

9/10
