DC Comics Best Covers of the Week: June 27, 2018

Have Yourself a Merry Little List of Covers

Hey now! What's this? It's the list! What list? The list of covers! The best list? The best of the rest of 'em! And how!

Bane Conquest #12
Graham Nolan
Oh you know this one tickled me pink. Whenever a cover messes with the established logo, I get giddy. This particular one is aided by a brilliant color scheme and nice composition. But Bane crushing stuff, that's the real ticket.

The Flash #49
Howard Porter
You coulda fooled me and said this was a Justice League cover. Howard Porter excels at these face-forward shots in profile, and all of these bodies tangled up trying to hold back Wally and Barry give this a lot of potential energy. Energy known as...the speed force? No, it's more aesthetic than ethereal.

Detective Comics #983 variant
Mark Brooks
Are these the worst closets ever? I suppose you can see the contents up front, but it's not very efficient. Here's a nice cover if you like Batman and his team members. Which I do, incidentally.

Wonder Woman #49 variant
Jenny Frison
What more can I say about Jenny Frison's Wonder Woman variants? They're terrific. They could be on this list every week. DC Comics had better put out some collection of these, if they know what's good for 'em.

Batman Beyond #21 variant
Dave Johnson
This noir cover definitely strikes my fancy. It's been a little while since I had a Batman Beyond cover on this list, but this one is spellbinding. The muted color palette and forced perspective is everything.
