I Think I'm a Clone Now...or Am I?

I have really enjoyed Justice League 3000. I love the Justice League in a future science fiction setting as well as the mystery surrounding who and what the hell this League really is all about.  Well, the wait is over because this issue explains so much.  That is a good thing and a bad thing.

First a little catch up.  The Justice League may or may not be clones, it's the 31st century, the Flash is dead, Green Lantern is a sex toy for a goddess-like villain and the Wonder Twins are calling the shots. Superman (he's a douche), Wonder Woman (she's blood thirsty) and Batman (he's almost acting like himself) are on Takron-Galtos, a prison planet that's also Earth.  It's pretty smelly.  Ok, we're up to speed.

Justice League 3000 #4 is all about answers.  Giffin and DeMatteis have been teasing the reader for three issues and now they are finally ready to give up the goods.  Are you ready for it?  Without ruining the fun, the Justice League are not clones.  They are something else.  Something darker and more disturbing.  Their reason for being is kind of a bummer and I love it.  It makes everything from the first three issues come together and also raises the stakes if one of them dies.

Of course, one of them already has.  We get the Flash back, except he's a little different. We also get another Justice league member joining the fight.  Again, I won't ruin it for anyone, but it's one of my favorite DC characters so I'm thrilled.

So, what didn't I like?  Because of the nature of the issue, it was heavy with exposition.  Not much action to speak of here.  I still don't like the Wonder Twins, but I'm not sure if Giffin and DeMatteis really want us too.  Finally, I'm getting sick of the over-sexed Locus.  However, the League themselves are a tiny bit more likable so it's a draw.

The art of Howard Porter is starting to really grow on me.  It's pencil heavy, but I like it for the setting and characters.

Bits and Pieces:

Justice League 3000 #4 is full of answers, but it's also full of talking and more talking.  Though there is not much action to speak of, this issue opens up the readers eyes and adds another fan favorite character to the team.  I suggest you check it out if you like something familiarly different.
