Slug Fest

When last we saw Bane, and The Talons they had won the Arkham War, and had completely taken over Gotham.  Well now that Forever Evil is over and something happened to the Crime Syndicate, (I'll let you know when I know) it's time for the Dark Knight Detective to return to his city.  What that means for us is the slug fest that will forever be known as Batman Vs. Bane.  Let's check it out, I'm pretty sure I can predict the outcome.

Explain It!:

The issue begins with Gotham starting to get back to normal.  While the police are still trying to save lives and uphold the law, it's still a city cut off from the rest of the world and it is still controlled by Bane.  The big play right now is for Bane to gather weapons and get the Talons to hold off military intervention as long as they can.  But even the Talon's know this is a losing battle.  Pretty much it's Gotham before Batman comes back in The Dark Knight Rises, plus some Talons.  Hell Bane even has the same jacket as in the movie.

This all leads up to the return of the Dark Knight, who takes out all of the Talons with a freeze gun, and meets Bane at his new HQ at Wayne Tower.  Now I'm not exaggerating here but from start to end this fight is ten pages long, with a lot of yelling, grunts, and fighting smack talk.  Once Bane is defeated we see that Bruce Wayne is funding the rebuilding of Arkham Asylum, and we see Bane locked up dealing with his detox of venom.  Sorry for the short review, but that's seriously all there is.  If you want a added thrill to the issue when your finished reading it, have the theme to Dark Knight Rises cued up and ready to go, because this issue just seems to be a love letter to the end of Nolan's trilogy.

Bits and Pieces:

This comic is the equivalent of Roddy Piper and Keith David duking it out over putting on a pair of sunglasses in "They Live", but not nearly as much fun.  At most this could of been an interesting discussion between Jim Gordon and Batman about how Batman took back Gotham from Bane, but as a comic it's really not worth the $3.99 cover price, unless all you expect is a slug fest, and if that's the case then buy away.

5.8/10
