Booyah bitches we're back with another issue of Cyborg and even though I've found this first story arc to be a little rough, this is still the title that I was screaming for the most back in June so I'm going to stay optimistic and hope that it finishes strong and then becomes the must read title of 2016.  That's not too much to ask for right?  We've got Cyborg teaming up with the Tekbreakers against the Technosapiens and these bastards have been going from Universe to Universe converting everyone like the borg in their pursuit to find their techno Jesus.  Well, as it turns out Vic Stone is just that savior and the Technosapiens want to use him to become as perfect as he is.  We got to find out the origin of this Technosapien/Tekbreaker war in the previous issue and while I love a good backstory, this one promises to be an even better issue because Cyborg has a plan to take these big bads down.  Let's jump into this story finale and see what good old Vic has up his sleeve.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with the Tekbreaker Sarah Charles cursing Cyborg's name because he promised that when they teleported back to Earth-0 and right in the middle of the Technosapien invasion that he had a plan in dealing with them and even though he does........ Man, does he take his time to enact it.  I guess he just wanted to take some aggression out by blasting some of the invaders, but eventually he makes his way back into Star Labs and gets himself surrounded so he can tell his tech to tendril the hell out and do a little invading of his own.  That's right, Cyborg hacks the Technosapien main operating system and it's easy too because his tech is just like theirs, only he was able to keep his humanity and that's exactly what he wants for all of them as well.

I guess overriding someone's system takes a lot out of someone because Cyborg looks like he's concentrating really hard on what he's doing.......... or taking a shit, but eventually he shuts them down and ends up exploding because of it.  The Technosapiens that weren't immediately shut down, left running their asses off as they tried to hop Universes to escape the reprogramming and Cyborg was left burned to a crisp.  Luckily though, he's got that bad ass new tech of his that begins regenerating him immediately and surprise surprise, Vic came back whole this time.  Yeah, we kind of saw this happening in the previous issue, but here we see the full effect and the fact that Cyborg can will his armor back on at anytime..... like he does here when he sees the Tekbreaker Sarah Charles looking at him.  Maybe it's because he's not ready for anyone to know that he can be fully human again or he's bashful, but Vic turns all Cyborg again and because she saw him for who he really is, Sarah tells him that her other self from this world will look past the hardware and still love Vic whatever he looks like.  It's all very touching, but I'm sure that once Vic gets into a relationship, he'll be all about turning fully human again.

In the end, Cyborg has won the day, the Tekbreakers go off to hunt down the rest of the Technosapiens that got away and the Justice League congratulate Vic on a job well done.  While it should be all pinatas and RC Cola for our hero, he still doesn't know how to feel about his new development and only shares his secret with his pet cat.......... and now I feel really bad for Cyborg because that sounds like something I would do and Cyborg should never be anything like me.

That's it for this issue of Cyborg and while it was a quick read that wrapped everything up really fast, it was still an enjoyable issue.  Cyborg went and got himself a new status quo, where he can go back and forth between human and superhuman at a moments notice and it looks like things between Sarah and him might heat up in the upcoming months.  Really though, the takeaway of this issue is Vic's new power, which is really cool and adds a new dynamic for this hero who's spent the majority of his days being a Justice Leaguer stuck on the Watchtower just because of how removed from humanity he believed himself to be in not only looks, but by the way he brain worked as well.  Soon enough we'll have Vic strutting his stuff down the street, with no one noticing him until he decides that it's time for a "Booyah" and it will be awesome.  Like all the previous issues to this series, the art  and colors are great and even though I wasn't a huge fan of this arc, I can't wait to see where we'll go from here.

Bits and Pieces:

We finish up the Technosapien invasion with this issue and get a whole new status quo for Cyborg in the process.  While this issue was a really fast read, with a even faster wrap up, the art and the fact that we get to see Cyborg saving the day should be enough to keep you entertained....... and hopefully get you excited for what's to come.

7/10

  2. "Burned to a crisp", more like he was left with no arms or legs... the image freaked me out! I loved the reveal that Cyborg can appear human now but doesn't know how to be human anymore. And I thought the exact same thing about the cover Eric.
