First Looks of Hanna-Barbera Titles at Wondercon!

IT’S THE TALK OF THE TOWN! HANNA-BARBERA AT WONDERCON!

As the latest DC panel at WonderCon 2016 just came to a close, the filled convention room was thrilled to get the first scoop on a fan favorite—Hanna-Barbera! The contemporary updates to some of the Hanna-Barbera classics were announced late January, but these lucky fans got a chance to see the first sneak peeks!

If you weren’t in attendance to the panel, you can see for yourself what the buzz is all about in the gallery below!

Moderated by DC Co-publisher Dan DiDio, Co-publisher Jim Lee, Senior Editor of Special Projects Marie Javins, and writer and artist team Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti were pumped to give the audience what it wanted: details and first-looks! They started out with some looks at the covers and snippets for Scooby Apocalypse, Future Quest, and even gave a special look at other titles coming including Wacky Raceland and The Flintstones!

First to be released on May 18, Future Quest features stories about the teenage adventurer Jonny Quest from Jeff Parker and DC Exclusive artist Evan “Doc” Shaner.  Fans got a chance to see the action packed cover from “Doc”, variants by Steve Rude and Bill Sienkiewicz, a glance at “Team Quest” as well as learn the details of a whole new dimension that Jonny and the other Hanna-Barbera action heroes find themselves in!

Scooby Apocalypse, set to be released on May 25, is all monsters and mayhem as the room got a look at the cover by the amazing Jim Lee! Along with some really cool variant covers from Howard Porter, Neal Adams and exclusive looks at covers to come, fans got a first peek of what’s to come for Scooby and the gang from co-writers Keith Giffen and JM Dematteis and artist Howard Porter.

And as a special treat for such a great fan base, the crowd saw some exclusive first looks of The Flintstones, including covers and a look at our favorite families the Flintstones and the Rubbles, as well as Wacky Raceland, including covers and some amazing looks at Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pusscat!

These Hanna-Barbera series are definitely getting me intrigued. Future Quest already has me sold, but now these other titles have peaked my interest. I personally can't wait till they begin to hit shelves.

  1. What the hell happened to Bam Bam, He looks "the hunchback of Notradame"?

  2. The Flintstones are apparently set in the time when Pebbles and Bam-Bam are teens (like the 70s Flintstone Comedy Hour). Penelope Pitstop looks like a cross between her old self and Tank Girl.

    1. lol...that hair is odd...maybe she went off and joined the B52's! I actually have gotten used to the hipster mustache and hope they play around with it a bit before Fred holds him down and shaves it off!
