I have been a big fan of this book for months now. The team works well together despite being a mash-up of a bunch of random characters and Gerry Duggan seems to usually have something for every member to do. Going into this issue, I’m excited to see what mess the group gets itself into next.

Okay, I wasn't the biggest fan of Rogue One when I saw it in the theaters, so it may seem like an odd choice for me to review this comic adaptation.  Actually, I wasn't going to, but since seeing the movie, I have had this nagging feeling that maybe I was a little too harsh on the movie.  I still think that it's one of those things that was better to think (and dream) about than actually see on the screen, but that's just me.  Maybe it's a large burden to bear, but I am actually leaving it up to Jody Houser and crew to show me the light and make me appreciate Rogue One more after reading this adaptation. So, did the first issue send me down the path of appreciation?  Let's find out...

I will warn all those who are reading that there are tie-in stories you should probably read before this book Most importantly, according to Marvel, is Uncanny Avengers #22. Wolverine was a book that I wasn’t really paying attention to at the beginning of All-New, All-Different Marvel but the book has been talked about a ton and lots of people are loving the book. Luckily for me, we got a new jumping on point with ResurrXion and I immediately picked up this book. This is a new beginning for Laura and Gabby as the Trigger Scent is no longer a threat, and the two have dawned new costumes. How will our two girls fare going forward? Let’s stop talking about it and just jump right into this new beginning.

The X-Men Are Back … Through CW Colored Goggles

The X-Men Blue and Gold teams are back in the latest Marvel relaunch, this one titled ‘ResurreXtion’, revolving specifically around the X-Books, and the lineup of comics that spring from them.  Fresh off the heels of last week’s X-Men Prime issue, which was a bit of a wheel spinner if you ask me, we jump right into the re-introduction of a more classic team of X-Men, to wet our appetite for the future samplings to come in the line.   So does Marvel, Guggenheim, and company accomplish the goal this issue of generating a renewed interest and in turn getting everybody to buy into this new status quo? So, I’ll admit that this is clearly a book that is not aimed at me in any way. That being said, I do like America Chavez as a character and tons of people feel that same way. That being said, the previous issue was not very good. Granted, if you go to any other comic review site you’ll see the exact opposite of that opinion but I honestly really disliked it. It had choppy and questionable dialogue all while setting up the most clichéd storyline that I’ve ever read. This all came to an end with America traveling through time to punch Hitler in the face. That page was really nice to look at but really came out of left field. However, I really want this series to succeed and I’m hoping the next few issues will change my mind. Let’s just jump right in to this book.

Okay. Confession time. When I was a kid, I read a lot of stuff. Doctor Who novelisations were my main obsession, but there were a ton of popular children’s book series I was into in addition to the adventures of the man with the long scarf and the mop of curly hair and the floppy broad-brimmed hat. The Hardy Boys and, to a lesser extent, Nancy Drew were among them. Those stories offered a mix of atmosphere, mystery, incident and intrigue. The Hardy Boys and Nancy themselves were, well, a little dull – too clean cut, too earnest to be truly compelling protagonists, but the stories themselves were fun. In Dynamite’s reimagining of the characters, that sense of fun and mystery is still there. To an extent.

Lives in a dream

Not being familiar with John Layman’s work, Sam Keith was the selling point for me. I’ve been a big fan of The Maxx since I was a kid seeing him on MTV’s Liquid Television. Once I got older I continued that childhood memory by reading The Maxx comics. With that being said I wanted to give this title a chance and see what it has to offer. This sort of story wouldn’t normally appeal to me. But I’m going out of my comfort zone to see if they can keep me around to continues this series.
