Batman Beyond 2.0 #5 (2013) Review

Beyond Thrilling

Written By: Kyle Higgins

Art By: Tony Silas
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: October 5, 2013

Kyle Higgins has gone on record that he is a huge Batman Beyond fan.  Just like his run on Nightwing, his love of the character comes through loud and proud and the result is a comic that "gets" it.

Last issue, Terry found himself on the opposite side of the Bat-Family including Robin, Batgirl and strangely enough, Nightwing and Batman.  Followers of the comic knew this just wasn't possible and in this issue, we see the truth.  It is a really cool reveal and shows the strength of Kyle Higgins' writing and the digital format in general.

Almost every page has a cool moment, whether it's a reveal, twist, fight...You can't wait to click on the next page to see what awesome thing will happen next.  Higgins' plays this format as an old master.  The ending of this issue is going to make the two weeks wait for the next issue a long wait indeed.

Like Higgins' writing, Tony Silas also "gets" it.  The look of this comic is just a great update of Batman Beyond which makes everything a Batman Beyond tribute as well as a true 2.0 update.

Bits and Pieces:

Higgins and Silas are really making Batman Beyond 2.0 a great read.  This issue has action, reveals and a cliff hanger ending that will leave you wanting the next issue now.  The two of them are making their own mark on Batman Beyond that long time fans and newbies can both love.  Highly recommended.

  1. I love Dick Grayson's inclusion in the story. It really links the old Batfamily to the new.

    1. I agree totally. Dick is my favorite character and when I saw him at the end of issue #1 I was so happy. Kyle Higgins is making Nightwing fans very happy.

    2. Have you read Justice League Beyond 2.0? I don't like it as much and would love to hear someone else's opinion.
